It's hard to argue that people, in general are just plain stupid and gullible. There is a certain element, call them earth lovers or something? They have been pushing this climate disaster bullshit for 30-40 years, to what end, I don't know. Except that they want to be miserable and worried to death that the world will end, like this little girl Greta Thunberg. Where evidence is lacking, they make it up but they seem determined to view the future with dread.

It has got so bad, that now people actually believe in the "so called" CLIMATE CHANGE, as if it is a fact. It's not a fact but they have succeeded in convincing the citizens of California that climate change is real and we are almost doomed, unless we do everything that Liberals demand. It's pretty pathetic that people are so worried about "weather" and proves that just ragging on it endlessly causes people to believe that weather, anything at all, forest fires, blizzards, floods, etc etc. are proof positive that the earth is in peril. so, all we have to do is ban plastic straws and we just might survive!

Anyway, it appears we have lost the argument, JOHN Q PUBLIC is convinced that "CLIMATE CHANGE" is a FACT!

Good times, indeed !!!!
We used to rent a skiff at the pier and drift the kelp beds casting plugs with bass rods for Mackerel. Would lose about one in four to sharks or sea lions. What a hoot !!!! [Smile]

My brother in law and I used to float the kelp patties for calico same same with the sharks and sea lions. Once we launched off Latigo beach in my little 12'aluminum boat Affectionally called the S.S. Reynolds wrap followed the big boats out were in way over our heads had great day fishing only to return and hear the news of two kayakers knocked over and eaten by a great white.

I never did much up that way but we used to rent a scow at nDavy Jones Locker in Newport Beach with a half a scoop of anchovies and head out past the breakwater in the direction of Laguna, usually. Sand bass, Calicos and Sculpin. Never had much trouble with either sharks or seals, once in a while harassed by pelicans, it was a victory to get an anchovy on the bottom. Those birds are stupid, they seem to know they will get hooked but do it anyway?

Anyway, this one memorable day we were anchored and just jerking off for hours and didn't pay any attention to the tide coming in. Suddenly, a good size swell rolled past us and the friggin' boat stood up on end like a bobber, all the gear slammed into the covered bow! Somehow, we didn't get swamped or tossed out but you should have seen us struggle with that snagged anchor! It was one of those Danforth types that really dig in and the bottom along there is volcanic, lots of places for an anchor to bite into a piece of outcrop. You talk about a panic situation! I think it was the buoyancy of the covered bow on the fiberglass boat that actually broke us loose.

I mean, we weren't over a half mile off shore and the swim wouldn't be any big deal, but who thinks of that when the damned boat is vertical with every swell? Then, sorting out the rat's nest of gear for three guys under the bow....we didn't need all those hooks and sinkers anyway! And of course, every tackle box was wide open. The beer wasn't; at first, anyway. That turned into quite an adventure, I think we lost all the fish, too? Almost one of those, "Lucky to be alive" episodes! I'm sure both my buddies would easily remember that little trick. That's what it's all about, ain't it?

Good hunting. El Bee
