Last year Washington state passed a gun transfer bill that requires both parties of a private gun transfer to appear in person before an FFL. Transfers include, but are not limited to, sales, gifts, loans and leases.
Say my wife and I go target shooting and she wants to use my pistol. Before she can do that we have to go to a dealer and get a background check. Then when she wants to give it back to me we have to do it again.
If I'm going out of town and want to leave my firearms with a neighbor we need to get a background check and when he returns my firearms we have to do it again.
I'm wondering what happens if I suddenly die without transferring my guns. Does the sheriff come out and confiscate them?
Along with the harassment factor it's well known that the feds are keeping a record of all gun transfers which is illegal but they're doing it anyway. Our state attorney general has admitted this. Defacto gun registration. The bill was passed out of the state senate yesterday without a single Republican vote.
I have despised Democrats for a long time but this is over the top.

It's in committee. You can count on the DemocRATS doing it.
When I first moved back to Oregon it was time to do some redistricting. The Republicans controlled both house of the state legislature so according to the state's constitution the task fell to them. They refused so by law the task was sent to the Secretary of State, a highly partisan DemocRAT. He gerrymandered the districts so badly that a number of Republicans were left without a district to represent so they were sent home. Since then the Democrats well outnumber the Republicans in the House.
