Good grief did that turn into a freaking mess. I heard that one guy saying don't touch me right before he was slammed to the ground. That one poor cop on the ground that got shot in the leg got kicked in the face by his own partner.

Looks like nightsticks, punches, taser, pepper spray, and bullets.

Welcome Walmart shoppers.

You ain't kidding abut that cop getting a stiff boot to the head before getting shot.

SOP, separate parties involved. If you don't, this shit happens. What a bunch of f'in' rednecks. When the officer tells you to do something, you do it. The only thing I would have tried to do differently (I say try because this was a clusterfuck and who knows what would have worked) once the backup units arrived is focus all officers on taking and securing one dipshit at a time, three on the dip shit and one to keep the other dipshits off of them until they are ready to go after the next dipshit. Cuff them ankle to wrist if you have to to keep them from getting up and wandering off. Just goes to show that it's a lot easier to watch and say what shoulda been done than it is to be right in the deep shit. I didn't see anything that the LEO's did wrong here. Just had their arms full of white trash.

This is what a lot of LEO's are saying.

Not to MMQB, these things can go downhill awfully fast.

What happened? This was store security calling police because of stolen merchandise, or what?

Leonard, the police got called there originally because one of these people assaulted a Walmart employee in the store.

From another story about this, this is/was supposedly a Christian music group family, although I guess they have a reputation in Idaho as being a bunch of scam artists. Anyway, Mama Ruth went inside to use the shitter and two of her boys were standing guard, for whatever reason. A female Wally World employee went to use the same bathroom and the boys roughed her up a bit and wouldn't let her go in. (Can you hear a banjo?) Anyway, the whole deal ends up out in the parking lot when PD is called. One of the sons got that officer down and grabbed his weapon. The fight escalated at that point and another officer that son and killed him after the son had shot the officer in the leg. Another son was injured with a gunshot wound. Gives a whole new twist to "people of walmart".

Oh' sure, it figures they were from Idaho ?

Probably Kalifornia transplants !!

I'm kidding.. [Big Grin]

Seriously though and excuse my language. While I bitch about a lot of stuff here and our desire to be in a smaller town ect..ect..There are some weird mother fuckers in small town Idaho.

Welfare, tobacco road or whatever types, thus our dilemma in trying to figure out what to do ?

It's like a clash of yuppies or trailer trash !!

Ok, my blood pressures up, better end rant. Lol

Wow. Thanks, 49. I watched the whole thing. Just unbelievable!

I have so many questions. What the hell is all that stuff out on the ground? Are all of them still in custody? And, I mean ALL, including the parents!

And, of course that worthless Walmart "supervisor" should have let the big guy continue to help the officers. I can't understand her motives other than "POLITICALLY CORRECT" shit?

I doubt we will ever see anything like this again.

Leonard, these people were living out of that Suburban, believe it or not. The stuff on the ground was their personal belongings.

The eleven year old daughter was the only one of them not to be arrested. I don't know if any of them made bail, and from the looks of the clan and their living quarters I doubt it.

Thanks for posting that second video, Nick. Saved me the trouble. This deal escalated so fast that slo-mo and a play by play was necessary.

Cottonwood, AZ, population ~12,000. I'm guessing that what you saw on the video was about all of their on duty officers. The guy says later backup came from a different jurisdiction, and DPS probably didn't show until the footage ended.

In my mind, these small town cops handled this in exemplary fashion. Several times weapons were drawn and then holstered because a clear target could not be obtained. The Wallyworld employee saved some lives, no doubt. His supervisor acted within company guidelines by calling him off at first when officers arrived. Once it became obvious that the situation was not under control he re-entered, and stayed until it was. Minimum wage hero.

Much good judgment and restraint exhibited in the video. If I were on the scene as LEO, I would not have stopped shooting until my ammo was gone or there were no bad guys standing.

I believe all family members are still in custody, and I hope a couple of them receive daily tuneups.

I figured that stuff was their personal property but my question is more along the lines of, "why is it out there? I wonder about eight people and all that junk in one Suburban?

I can't fault the cops for wading into the situation, how could they know these people had been indoctrinated and trained; scratching the face, rolling to dislodge taser wires, etc. Not many people would actually jump on a cop.

I kept thinking of the Discovery show, Alaskan Bush People. Another completely implausible family situation. Where do they get these people, such as the long haired clown that likes to vault over tree stumps, and climb trees and punch out fish with his fist. Anyway, reminded me of a family situation that mades no sense.

It was out there because they were camping in the Walmart parking lot. Most Walmarts allow overnight RV parking at their stores. I don't know that 8 nut jobs living out of the back of an old Suburban qualifies, but we live in a PC world.

Duh, I have heard of that, now that you mention it. That makes a lot of sense, Jim. Also, why momma needed an escort to the potty. Doesn't "make sense", but you know what I mean.

Speaking from the point of view of someone that left the house at 17 and never came back, I fail to understand why adult children, all in their mid to late twenties would be hanging around mom and dad? You would think that a few of them would start to get interested in a life of their own?

I would hope they all have court dates and serve time. I don't agree with that type of insubordination against authority, at all.

edit: I knew a woman that was a member of Elks and we would go there on Taco nite and spaghetti nite, etc. There would be RV's in the back lot that seemed to be there for longer than overnite. I'm not much of a drinker so that's the only reasons I would go, but seems like Elks like to socialize and drink booze?

I'm with Jim on this one I don't know how many empty magazines they would have found but I would have kept firing till nothing moved. These people exhibited no respect for law enforcement what so ever they acted like animals and should have been treated as such.

It seems around these small towns Like (Ash Fork) there are only two kinds of people I have run into the kind you want as friends and the kind you want to stay away from , and them from you. no middle ground. Some are there to live a simpler more peaceful way of life others are hiding because of there way of life.

Speaking of Askfork, Paul.

Do you have a preference between Jan. 8-9-10
and Jan 15-16-17 for next campout?

I was a member of our local ELKS Lodge for a couple of years until I got more involved with the Knights of Columbus. They are definitely a partying bunch.

I know the local lodge had RV hookups for traveling ELKS members to use as they passed through town. I think it was just an ELKS thing throughout the country.

I think the Knights party just as hard...in fact, the old joke used to be, 'Where ever you find 4 Knights, you will find a fifth...'

Now I don't feel so bad, Tim. When I first saw where Leonard said, "but seems like Elks like to socialize and drink booze?", the first thought I had was to ask if he was sure he didn't mean the Catholics. LOL Then you come along with the KoC part. [Smile]

My father and grandfather were KofC and my grandfather was a Forester. I know nothing about that. But, since many Catholics are either Italian or Irish and they seem to like their booze, and they say the Irish are particularly prone to alcoholism, as is American Indians, any way, a lot of ethnics like their booze. Although, I have no idea where the Polish stand on the issue, since the only Polacks I ever knew were close relatives with the same last name.

Where I grew up was considered Little Sweden, which is neither here nor there, but there were not as many Poles in Minneapolis as in Chicago, or any other midwestern city.

An interesting fact is that Poland is the most Catholic Country in the world, quite a bit higher percentage of Poles are Catholic than even Italy, or Ireland. In fact, I never met a Pole who wasn't Catholic? Nancy was Irish but the family was Protestant. Her mother was very much against her marrying a Catholic, but she just laughed it off.

What does this have to do with anything, I don't know?

Carry on, please.

Good hunting. El Bee
