I'm wondering where he went astray? Is it possible he means something to do with the standard cartridge used in 1969ish? That now they are using a longer, heavier bullet and they are using a faster twist, what the hell is it, maybe 1 turn in 7 1/2" inches?
Based on longer range capability, maybe some of the more recent civilian models have a tighter twist to handle heavier bullets? So, he doesn't get that technical, but if he was halfway tuned in to whoever was providing him the information? I don't know?
So, I guess you could say it's deadlier at extended range; or something?
But, that's slicing it pretty thin and I am not trying to give him something to save face. Anyway, he does not give his reason, just makes the unsupported claim.
Good hunting. El Bee
