But what I thought was interesting is that all the chamberings are pretty standard, nothing Russian sounding at all?

The other interesting comment is about the direction of recoil straight back, for observation and for quick second shots.

I wonder if I could get one chambered in 30-30 ????

Not really, but it's in my 'terms of service' that I have to mention 30-30 every once in a while just to bump El Bee's blood pressure back up to where it belongs.

It must be a historical artifact as the first smokeless propellant loaded cartridge. After that, it's a pretty sorry excuse, but we always have to add that it might have killed more whitetail than any other, if anybody is counting and if anybody cares? I also know that it's not quite as anemic when chambered in a 340 Savage bolt action as some misguided decision maker decided to do 30/40 years ago. It's still a pipsqueak and a poor choice considering what you could have.

You know, if you have a Corvette and a Nash Rambler as your raffle prize and you must choose one, what would be a reason to pick the Rambler? Economy, perhaps? Oh, and I have never heard anyone claim the fine accuracy potential inherent of the 30-30 Winchester?

It deserves to fade away. If there are a few nostalgic pieces lying around, I'd be in favor of including them in the Buy Back program Biden will propose on AR's.

End of rant

edit: somebody give me a jingle when it's time to say good riddance to 2020 so I can chime in! I'm damned tired of LOCKDOWN! We got it in The People's Republik and it hasn't helped. Next step is to confine us to bed for the duration; and that won't work either.

Ok ............... Question;
Which would be more better, ......... Lever action 30-30 or a .357 Mag. in lever action ????
I've tossed around the idea of getting one and running .38 Special semi-wadcutters for a plinking gun while still having the option of the hotter loads.

I’ve never been a fan of those things. Maybe 44mag and 44 Special is another option with a bit of authority, if needed. I have a Redhawk and usually employ the Specials, for some reason? I’ve been reloading the same 30-40 cases for more than 20 years. In a rifle, I think they would roll a javelina quite nicely.
