Just loaded a batch of fireform loads for the .30-338Norma Imp. last night. Figured I'd snap a pic to give some perspective...

Man, that 215 Berger looks like a flyin' SOB!

Lotta money wrapped up in gear just for hitting gongs, but if it keeps a man out of those evil Honky Tonks, it's probably worth it?

It pisses me off that Berger is in California but we cant hunt with their bullets. I called them a couple years ago, and they didnt give a shit about coming up with anything non lead...kinda dont blame em though.

Nice looking loads though!

That's bullshit 4-sho', Mark!
Those 215s should fly like darts. With a G1 b.c of almost .700, hope to see at least 3150fps MV. That's haulin' the mail!!!

Leonard, damn straight they keep me outta trouble! Come deer season, that big bitch is gonna see some overwatch detail. Only cuz vension tastes better on the grill, than does AR500 plate. And more tender... [Wink]

I'm sitting here, ready to boil over above comments on outlawed bullets in California. Somehow, we just rolled over and let them cocksuckers restrict our freedom.

It is a total lie about lead bullets. They have been used in this country for close to 300 years and now suddenly, they are deadly poison. These activist enviroNAZI's have us by the balls with their bullshit.

Oh yeah, lead paint. Best you can get. Don't use it on the Baby Crib fer cripes sakes! But, it is superior for a boat hull. Fuck those poor baby barnicles.

But, we have this culture in California; we have more than our share of CONTROL FREAKS ! They know what's best and we will just have to find something besides lead for our hobby endeavors. Too Bad, but it's for the environment. HOGWASH !

I would bet the FARM that they cannot honestly document a single CONDOR that died from lead poisoning! Suspicion is all they need. Scientists get too much credit for honesty, they are LYING IDEOLOGUES and have gotten away with a lot of very questionable theories, for many years. You know, they found a shitload of SNAIL DARTERS after they shut down the TVA Project. Oops.

And, now we have a drought and no water impoundments and catchment basins because; harmful to the environment....or something? So now, our ass is hanging out, $1000 fines for watering on the wrong day!

ok, end of rant. Back on your heads.

Good hunting. El Bee

I find it strange that if a condor flies over a hillside where someone was plinking with lead bullets the week before, it's gonna die of lead poisoning and possibly lung cancer from second hand gunsmoke.

And yet...............Turkey Vultures dine on the same gooey critters that condors do and vultures are thriving.

El Bee; Next time you're doing brunch with Gov. Moonbeam, could you have him call me and 'splain that ??????

Cal, parent case is a .338 Norma Magnum. Essentially, Norma took a .338 Lapua Mag & shortened the case length to be able to run at standard long action length of 3.600".
Norma also standardized a .300 Norma Magnum. I just went the wildcat route to get slightly more capacity and use a 30* shoulder. And, to be different, of course!

BTW, there is an older case called the .308 Norma, but that is basically a .338Win Mag necked down to .308". But that is a .573 (std. Magnum) bolt face case, whereas the above need a .595" (Lapua) bolt face.

I'm running a Defiance Deviant Tac long action with .750" bolt to handle the added bolt thrust of the larger bolt face. Very impressed with the fit & finish of this Defiance...

Clint. A man of few words. And, I have no defense.

It just seems like such a formidable endeavor, here I am entrenched for 40 years. I really don't know where to begin? No joke, not getting any younger, but it would be so much easier if my shit burned to the ground.

I have been threatening to move for 25 years already. Maybe it's just talk?

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: PS when I first started hearing about a 300Norma, I thought for sure they were talking about the 358 and 308Norma. Aside from the fact that I never saw any good reason for a 308Norma Mag? Really, we need a moratorium on all these cartridge "creations". The world doesn't need another.... (plug in name of Fred's new Ray Gun)

LB, I still have a place in the OC that I haven't seen (in person) for at least a dozen years because I'm comfy here in Okie. One thing hunters & fishermen are is habitual! if half of the imports & faggots would leave without a trace, we ( you & I ) would likely debate on whom made the best shot or caught the biggest fish yesterday & hey lets go to he dodger game conversation tomorrow on the way home. Heck, Calif use to be a great place to live, obviously the libs destroyed any chance of "normal people" enjoying our kinds of lifestyle just a few hours max from home. Back here I live closer to a fishing hole & secret hunting spot than I do to the nearest F'ing mcdonalds by several miles. I'm rambling but sincere in my beliefs just like you are. Carry on soldier

Wildcat perspective...
338 Norma--->30-338Norma--->30-338 Norma Improved
 -

Leonard, after commissioning an off the wall wildcat, this is all the justification I'm looking for...
 -

That's about 300fps off what I'm expecting from a full house load. Definitely inspirational to just swag a load via Quickload and have it perform like that, though!!!

Yes, many people report that fireforming loads are just as, if not more accurate than subsequent. I was never so lucky.

Looks like a bad ass MoFo Fred!

Maybe Berger will care when they get around to making manufacture of lead products illegal in the crazy place?

And, after that, it will be illegal to utter the word, or type it on a keyboard. If that seems ridiculous, just think how it has snowballed from a restriction within the Sespi Wildlife Area to what it is now, total insanity.

Twenty-two rimfires only use lead bullets so uncounted millions of rifles and pistols apparently are now totally illegal in this fucked up state?

Did they not think of that? Or they did, and that is the actual motivation.

Ok, Fred. I was curious because I have some 358 Norma brass here leftover from something I Loaded for someone and it was headed your way if it was the same. I have no use for it and unless someone wants it I am about to throw it out.

Got 100 rounds on the big Norma now, looks like that 215Hybrid/Retumbo load is velocity truing out @ 3145fps. Shot it @1K over the weekend in some stiff wind, and that big bitch is a real performer!
