Went out to the badlands of Kern County today. Wanted to do some calling but mainly look for some new ground to call, as a lot of my good areas are being locked up as "ecological preserves" out here.

150 mile round trip but I consider these areas my home turf when it comes to calling. Dry, desolete place. Some wild ground, mixed with farm and cattle ground.

Anyhoo...struck out on the first couple stands, at a couple of my regular places. Then, another empty stand, then another. It started getting hot, so I just decided to push on to some new ground I had eyeballed on Google Earth ( not maps..edit). I had actually been there before years ago, but it's a little hairy to get to, so I didnt make it a priority to go there much.

So 4 short stands later, I had 5 coyotes down. Love it when a plan comes together.

The last one was this little tyke..22-250 and Nosler lead free 35 grainer tore the shit out of him. The rest were not all that bad, but I shot this one about 15 yards out, on the run from left to right, after he saw me move and flared off. Yuck.

Oh yeah, and there are shit loads of these out and about. Almost crawled into my lap!

And thats about it..another boring morning of calling in Central California.

I am instructed to inform you that "He who shall not be named" has some 22-250 brass on the shelf. Maybe you know what he means?

Good hunting. El Bee

One has to admire those Tarantula spiders if for no other reason for the nerve of the little guys.
They come thru my workshop now & then. Make a move toward them and they will rear up in a defensive posture against someone that's like 2000 times bigger than they are. Pure guts & kind of neat.

Im not real afraid of em, not one to squash them, but I dont want to get cozy with em either. That one was a bit persistant. I gently "relocated" it with my shooting sticks.

You're a pretty forgiving type, Mark. Not sure anybody else would have bought from him if he was offering it for free, and paying the shipping. He made his bed.

Looks like your problem is solved. Not really looking to unload just trying to help a brother out.

Thanks yo...

On a side note, I have been informed via email, by someone I may, or may not, know, that I need to take pics of, and/or film, each of my kills, so as to prove that I indeed am telling the truth about the number of animals I say that I killed in my post.

To that, I say...fuck off. I rarley take or post pics, mainly because I just dont give a shit. I have nothing to prove to any person, or on any forum. I hunt for me and no one else.
Nuff said.

And, that reminds me of Higgins' allegations of Rob Krause when he was entered in the Foxpro contest. (is that still going on?)

He thought that Rob was taking photos of coyotes in one setting, then reposing the same animals on the other side of the road; thereby doubling his kill.

I have not bothered with too many hero shots, since 1968 when I started racking and stacking. Every once in a while, I ponder if that has been a mistake? You know the way it is with the YouTube Generation? If there's no video, it didn't happen.

Good hunting. El Bee

Mark, I don't recall ever seeing you post a hero pic.
If you say 5, I believe it. You're not one to brag, that I've ever seen.

What good is a man's word - whether spoken or written? If you cannot believe or trust what someone tells you, maybe it is indicative of something from within oneself? I'm dumber than a box of rocks, but intuitive as hell, and have never had that vibe from the "regulars" here.

Everything always comes out in the wash.....

LH "I have been informed via email, by someone I may, or may not, know..."

Irony. [Roll Eyes]

I'd out the anonymous turd, lurker, post his e-mail to the internet and make it a useless spam receptacle.

I remember asking a Washington State Game Warden this question, without receiving an answer, but it's worthy of asking again...

"At what point did we, in this society, get to where someone makes a statement of fact and they are then accused of being a liar?" [Mad]

Hell as the story began to unfold I was afraid it was going to have a "krusty ending" I was glad to hear something died, at all!

I remember someone doubting my kills a few years ago in the PM days. I didn't have a camera and didn't care. Trouble is now I do but rarely hunt. Oh well.

Pics are good for the memories. I wish I'd have taken pics of the good times with family and friends who are no longer with us. But to prove I can kill a coyote, screw that.
