Seeing as I've been lurkin' around here for a while, I figured I'd go ahead & sign up to join y'all...

ked (too damned lazy to spell it all out),

As you have no doubt noticed in your time lurking, you have to make a name for yourself, oftentimes by making a target of yourself, around here to earn your highly accurate status name. What you do from there forward will determine whether or not it changes, how often, and to what. Gotta give it to Elbee - he comes up with some good'uns.

As you learn to post in these ranks, be sure to remember but one word: defensible. These guys will nail you for "the".

I only wish Mark Zepp would have posted his fan mail to me at the Pros board in this house, just for the chance to see what would have happened. :

Thanks for the advice. I'm planning on keeping my head as far out of my azz as humanly possible...

45 minutes that I will never get back. Lance, get over it. Zepp is a member here, but I agree with him for the most part and agree with you in some respects, as well.

Support for a friend is admirable. Promoting coyote hunting is starting to backfire, for me. Popularity is two edged and my selfish attitudes make me think that coyote hunting is becoming more difficult in more ways than just calling sophisticated animals. The gear alone fills the back of a truck. High visibility leads to regulation, which is where this whole discusion began.

Why be concerned about Zepp "calling you out"? As you said over there, half of the people that read what you write are probably going to be offended by some of it. If it's Zepp, BFD. He's entitled to his opinion and so are you, even if I don't think too much of your reason, or his.

But, we all be friends, Bro.

Good hunting. LB

PS one thing I absolutely agreed with, what I read over there, is that Les is a damned good guy and a good representative for coyote hunting. There's a man that deserves his success, as opposed to quite a few I could name.

LB, I really don't like "Denies being Deep Throat" would you kindly change it to something nice?

Thanks,

Chris

Why, are you deep throat?

LB,

Yep. Fact is, I just don't like those events much. Spoke with several ppl in the past couple days that, by all rights, I expected to be there, but they won't be. Mark is certainly entitled to his opinion, and I guess he has every right to express it. But, if'n you wanna include me by name, I simply ask that you do it where I can respond right there rather than having to go way the hell over here or there and hope that anyone who gives a rat's rear end will be sure to look at both sides in the event that they think they need to be involved in the dialogue.

It's been my experience that when something is going on where there might be two sides - for whatever reason - a lot of people tend to follow the route of least resistance like sheep and not express their true (unpopular) sentiments if for no other reason than wanting to avoid political repercussions. Simply put, it would cost me four figures to go to that event and I have no one to cover those expenses in any way, shape or form. The best I could hope for is to maybe squeeze one article out of the event - which is unlikely - netting me, maybe, a couple hundred bucks. As I stated there, bad business decision and I'm not big on self promotion - makes me feel like a smarmy used car dealer (no offense to smarmy used car dealers). Yech. Not that I mind meeting my readers. I enjoy that, but those events bore the snot outta me in about fifteen minutes. Damned ADHA and all. If Mark enjoys that environment, good for him. He makes his living off selling calling related stuff. I don't. I simply write about something about which I am passionate and which I enjoy immensely. I find it very difficult to relax at those types of events and just kick back and enjoy the experience. Hate crowds. Don't like being the center of attention. Can't hear well enough to carry on a cogent conversation in a room full of noise. Because of some personal family issues, being away from the home place for more than a couple days isn't feasible at this time, nor for the foreseeable future. Gladly let Les and guys like him enjoy that experience. Lots of reasons why I don't wanna go, and the only person I have to justify that to is me. Owe no one else anything. Wouldn't even have my own face in my photo support if it weren't for the fact that my gunner is on the witness protection list and wanted in seven states. And, even then, nobody knows who I am. And, that ain't all bad. Editor asked me if I was going to be there - I told him no and why. He didn't have a problem with it. Guess I'm set. [Wink]

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on March 18, 2010, 07:56 AM:

Probably PAKMAN, or Pro Staff, but I changed everybody to Not DEEPTHROAT so that Higgins wouldn't suspect any of them of being my rat. In that respect, it served it's purpose.

DEEPTHROAT was some #2 guy in the FBI that snitched to a reporter about something that was important, back then. He died about a year ago.

There was an X rated movie previous, maybe that's what you are thinking of?

Good hunting. LB

I do remember Richard Nixon and Watergate. Supposedly, Deep Throat was the "secret informant". And, I remember his announcing just prior to his death that he was Deep Throat.

And, I do remember the XX rated movie.

Also, was observant enough to know why you changed it.

Both of those 1970s events are the reason I wanted something different.

Greenside beat me to the punch with ol'kirb and the fat girl/chick thing.

We could come with a scale like scale like ol'kirb does for far off coyotes only apply it the women that kirb and TA like. Something like "she had a butt 5.5 ears of corn wide" or "that gal could pull a 4-bottom plow". Depending on the situation and size of gal...

Edit: I was just checkin my title and had to post.

Hey Andy. Can you prove you never left MO within the last few days?

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (March 20) -- Police say they have made an arrest in the case of a racial comment being made over the public-address system at a Walmart store in southern New Jersey.

The Washington Township Police Department said on its Web site early Saturday that an arrest has been made in a "bias incident" at the retail store. The posting says the police and Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office will announce the arrest at a midday news conference.

Washington Township Police declined to comment early Saturday.

A male voice came over the Walmart public address system Sunday evening and calmly announced: "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now." The announcement provoked an immediate apology from the store manager.

Officials for Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc., said the announcement was "unacceptable."

Yeah, personally I don't think it's a chargeable offense, at least for a biased crime indictable offense (read felony). It might fall under a disorderly conduct offense, such as engaging in or inciting tumultuous behavior. But this would be a disorderly (read misdemeanor) and the county prosecutor's office would not be involved. This also might fall under harassment, which I think is more fitting.

My bet...since we are the People's Republik of NJ, there is pressure from the county prosecutor to make this a biased crime due to political reasons.
NJ even has a biased incident form:

http://www.nj.gov/oag/dcj/obccr/pdfs/biasincidentrpt.pdf

Edit for clarification.

The latest in the Walmart case:

Teen charged in NJ Walmart racial comment case
16-year-old boy charged with making racial comment over intercom at southern NJ Walmart

Companies:Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
Bruce Shipkowski, Associated Press Writer, On Saturday March 20, 2010, 3:14 pm EDT
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- A 16-year-old boy patronizing a Walmart store in southern New Jersey took over the public-address system and ordered black people to leave, angering customers and prompting company leaders to apologize, police said Saturday.

Police said the boy, whose name is not being released because he is a juvenile, went on the intercom at Walmart's Washington Township store Sunday evening and calmly announced: "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now."

The teen was arrested Friday on charges of harassment and bias intimidation. Authorities said he was released to the custody of his parents; they did not know whether he had a lawyer.

"This was an extremely disturbing event on many levels," Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton said at a news conference. "Any statements like these that can cause harm or grave concern must be addressed as quickly we possibly can."

Dalton said the case would be handled in juvenile court in neighboring Atlantic County, where the boy lives. He would not say whether the boy has a criminal record, citing the teen's age, and would not disclose the teen's race, saying that did not factor into the investigation.

Authorities would not say whether the announcement was planned or made impulsively. Police said they were also investigating a teenage boy who accompanied the suspect to the store, but they had not charged the other boy.

Although a manager quickly went on the intercom system and apologized for the remark, many customers expressed their anger to store management. Some community members said Saturday that they've heard reports of similar incidents happening at the store in recent months that were not reported to police.

"We are concerned about that, and we're looking into these incidents. We want to work with the community to make sure these types of incidents don't happen," said Loretta Winters, president of the Gloucester County chapter of the NAACP.

Winters said she hopes the boy will get counseling and be educated about sensitivity so he can understand the consequences of his actions.

"I'm assuming this person didn't realize how hurtful his comments were," she said.

Officials for Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said the announcement was "unacceptable," and Dalton praised the company for its strong cooperation in the investigation.

"We're pleased this matter is resolved," Walmart spokesman David Tovar said in a statement issued after the news conference. "We have updated our intercom system at this store to prevent this from happening again. We again apologize to all of our customers and associates who had to listen to something so offensive."

The incident was the latest in a series of problems the retailer has had in its dealings with minorities and women.

There have been several past instances of black customers claiming they were treated unfairly at Walmart stores, and the company faced lawsuits alleging that women were passed over in favor of men for pay raises and promotions.

In February 2009, the retailer paid $17.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging racial discrimination in its hiring of truck drivers.

And the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued the company in May 2009, claiming some Hispanic employees at a Sam's Club subsidiary in California were subjected to a hostile work environment. That suit alleges managers failed to stop repeated verbal harassment, including the use of derogatory words, against employees of Mexican descent.

However, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has said the company has worked hard in recent years to show it cares about diversity.

I think the Democratis Caucus is finalizing plans to control these type of events the only way they know how; forced frontal lobotomies. The cost is estimated to be well under 1.2 trillion dollars in the first ten years. Conservatives and Tea Party members will be the first to report for retrofit. What a Country!

Posted by TOM64 (Member # 561) on March 20, 2010, 04:24 PM:

The boy must not have been white or they would have charged him with a "hate" crime and as an adult. As it is they leave us to assume he is white and we've something else to be ashamed about.
