Its been awhile since I looked at Berger bullets. I have been shooting the 68 gr out of my big 6mm but noticed that they only make that in what they call their target bullet. Have they changed bullet design or am I shooting a "target bullet" Is everybody shooting target or varmint bullets for coyotes?

I currently use the 74 target. I admit things are confusing on the Berger website.
I wonder how a 70 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip would perform in a 6mm'06? It knocks them flat in my 243.

I've completely lost track of what is what now, compared to what used to be, what is not even being made anymore, even though something with the same name is still available etc.
Just completely, totally lost track of Berger.
That said, I have always preferred their target bullets, to their varmint or MEF. For varmints anyway. In all calibers.
Been running the 55 NBT in my 6-284 the last couple of years and it's been pure hell on wheels.

Leonard, was over a friend's last night at his reloading bench. He made up a bunch of .243 loads for a friend of his with the 88Berger 'varmint'. That dude shot 4 coyotes in a row, plus a cat, and lost them all? Wound up shooting another coyote on a wide open stand, and that same 88gr Berger 'varmint' pencilled thru and the coyote made it almost 200yds before piling up. Needless to say, they were both very disappointed in the lack of terminal effect from the 88 @ .243 speeds...
Also, was helping to work up a load for his .243 Catbird with the 70Nosler Btip, looks like it should be able to eek 4000fps from it with RL-22 What a beast!

I think Berger is doing whatever they want and what "used" to be, is no more? I don't understand their website when looking for specific bullets you know and have used in the past. Then you find what looks the same but has a different label or description, and apparently they "are" different, other than they weigh the same as the one's you are looking for. If I'm wrong I apologize, but with the changes I have noticed on the website, there is reason to be careful in ordering.

edit: Fred, I don't know what that is, but it looks very much like my 25'06Ackley, except I use 100 gr. Ballistic tips and they are blue, not purple. [ January 10, 2014, 12:07 PM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

IIRC, the .243Catbird is a 6-270 Improved, 35º shoulder and less body taper. Kenny Jarrett wildcat...
Yeah, Berger pulled their original "Target Match" bullets out of a yellow box and put them into an orange box and labelled them "Match grade Hunting". Then, started making the new line of "Target Match" bullets with thicker jackets to survive long strings of fire and stay together in a high round count barrel.
The Berger "Target" bullets have thicker jackets than the "Hunting" bullets of same weight...

Hmm? I use 270 brass on my 25'06AI. Reason is slightly longer case and large primer hole and supposedly, the 270 brass is built for higher pressures? Seems to work, I am still using the original 200 cases and couldn't tell you the number of reloads of each case or the round count, around 1,000? It's always been a standby rifle, don't use it much. Just for those animals that stay put, are well marked, but won't come an inch closer. Also, a beast! Interesting too, I've always used R22.

Ok well Im still not sure whats what but assuming they didn't change my bullet they are calling it a target bullet 68gr 6mm. The hunting bullet is 69gr.
