Hey where do you guys do most of your online ordering ?

I usually use Midway, Cabelas, Sinclair, Powder Valley, Brownells.

Trying to find some brass for my inbound 30-30 & no luck so far. Figured there may be some places, I'm unaware of ?

I've been using Graf & Sons quite a bit due to their reasonable shipping rates. I don't know what they have for brass at present, though. I have a local place that I can check to see if they have some 30-30 brass.

In the past MidSouth shooting supply has been one of the very few who would ship primers to Alaska. I don't know if they do anymore or not, but I've been happy with them as well as Graf & Sons. MidWay Supply really puts the screws to me on shipping, so I try to not deal with them.

Midsouth is pretty good, and RCBS has a lot in stock.

The way it's going, local sources are drying up. $27 for Hazmat shipping is outrageous! I would bet a lot of money that they can't point to a single incident where powder or primers blew up or caused any damage whatsoever. It's unjustified and I have refused to pay it but now they have me where they want me, since I can't find a damned thing locally.

Good hunting. El Bee

I forgot about Graf & Sons, along with Midsouth, thanks fella's.

Unfortunately, they don't have 30-30 brass. No biggie, I'll get it figured out.

Looks like Midway with their high shipping prices might have some Hornady available soon.

Damn $35 bucks for fifty pieces, plus shippng !

I'm getting the Vapors again! What's this about Museum Pieces?

I know, a lot of deer have succumbed to the venerable thutty-thutty. But that was then.

Just kidding, please, no hate mail! El Bee

edit: that designation wasn't it originally meant to convey 30 caliber, 30 grains of black powder? Something like that?

Must have missed that. I compare 'em all, then order from the cheapest, including shipping.

I check out the auction sites.
I couldn't find Varget anywhere and scored a 10 pound case for a good price on GunBroker. Bought 2 one pound bottles and the guy had the rest for the same price. Made the price/lb go way down since shipping would have been the same either way. Just looked and there is some brass on there. JBM

Dave,
You might check out www.precisionreloading.com.

I have had good luck with them and they are reasonable.

Looks like they have 30-30 brass in stock...

Dave,

I have a box of spent Federal 30/30 cartridges that somebody gave me. You can have'em if you want'em.

Speaking of 30/30's, Dad has a model 94 that he bought when he was in 7th grade many moons ago (almost 70 years). He said it cost him his whole summer wages around $60 and that included the guy at the hardware store throwing in a box of shells.

Just for nostalgia, I've been tempted to try Dad's 30/30 on whitetails in the timber where shots are usually under 100 yards. But part of me knows I'd see the buck of a lifetime at 150... So I never did get the balls to pack it yet.

Thanks Lonny, I appreciate that. If, I don't get something rounded up in the next few weeks, I just might take you up on that.

Tim, thanks for the link. I'll check it out.
