Yeah I see some of the smart ones agreed, the shooter jumped the trigger..
So when you heading back out to kill that wolf that's running around with your snare around its neck. Gives trappers a bad mark.

I think we're all trying to figure out the "why". Why not aim right where you want to hit? I thought you shot some flat shooting rifles, NO? Are your coyotes that damn quick that they can react before the bullet gets there, so you're shootin' infront of them expecting them to "run into" the bullet, or what?
I remember you said one time that you did shoot infront of them to turn them and make them run back toward ya, so maybe that's why you shoot high and infront of them?

I only shoot in front of them when they are running. You know give them a little lead..

Questions are only stupid because your remarks are stupid. No where did you say that you were shooting high and in-front of "moving" coyotes, now did ya.
I shoot my share of coyotes Timmy, and without the use of a WT waving around over my head, and rarely beyond 300 because I don't need to. Maybe you should've stopped and visited with Rich to learn some tricks to get your coyotes closer than 300. You're the internet boy wonder know it all when it comes to coyote calling but yet you still haven't figured out how to call your Minnysoda coyotes with-in range, hence the need for the "crew".

Well lets see you mentioned shooting in front of them so you must of been talking about runners.
If you must know for standing coyotes I usually aim a little higher than normal and either a little more to the front or back of coyote depending on which way the wind is blowing. In the real world when shooting at live targets and not steel plates you don't always have time to range, dial bullet drop or windage and no matter who's ballistic dope you use you will still be off as you can't predict what the wind is doing farther down range. So I like to put a little more into my aim.. If you shot a few more coyotes past 300 yds. perhaps you would of figured it out and not asked the questions. You just don't know..
I don't have any problem getting coyotes to come in close to the call, I usually stop them at 100-200 yds. as that's where I feel comfortable taking the shot.. As for the longer shots that's done when out hunting them, I happen to enjoy it as much as calling them, you don't do it so you wouldn't understand..
Yeah my coyotes are difficult to call in, about equal to some of Cal's toughest coyotes but I still do better than most here so I'm happy, and the ones that are too chicken shit to come in to a call are just living on borrowed time.
Oh and if the weather is too good and I don't have any snow I can trap them as well, it pays to be versatile if you want to put fur on the stretcher.
Right now my biggest joy is working the dogs, I learn from them and vise versa every day and its great to watch a dog run a coyotes track and not trash.
I don't know if you know or remember Hole huffer Kirby, but anyway he liked to watch coyotes just be coyotes and he said you can learn so much from it.. I find you can learn a hell of a lot more by hunting them, with calling coming in second..
Maybe that's why so many callers are still struggling. There problem not mine. Well I have to get some sleep, another big day tomorrow.. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Like I said in other post I assumed Freddy's bullet was going less than speed of sound at 750 yds. before actually seeing his ballistic dope for his cartridge that was pushing a bullet at 2950 fps. Get over it.

"No Tom, you said it." For my reason of doing it refer to last post above. I don't shoot at deer past 300 yds. never have and most likely never will. Go back into the archives here and you will see I have always done it the way mentioned in prior post when shooting coyotes at longer ranges.

First off, stop referencing me or my shit. You have no clue. You have never been here and never will. Huber is the only person that has been here and knows anything about this country and the coyotes left in it. And to put it kindly he has told me he's never seen tougher coyotes anywhere. He got a whole new perspective on things and has had to adapt and change to survive at all.
One of the first things I told Huber when he started working here some was if he ever brought you anywhere near here, I was going to kick you in the balls, and then him. And I meant it.
