LB , a while back you (i think) mentioned the desire to own a S&W "Shield" pistol. I had a chance to look one over and fire yesterday in 9 mm. I am impressed with the size and pointability of the pistol. I was only shooting water bottles at 10 to 15 yds, using 115 gr +p+ ammo and found it comparable to a H&K P7 (squeeze cocker)i have. Any update and or opinion?

Nope. I don't need another pistol, but bought a Buckmark 22 recently. Camper model. I like it, for what it is, but haven't done anything about a serious self defense handgun. Like I said, I really don't need one, don't even want one. It's a little embarrassing, I couldn't give you an accurate account of what's in the safe. But, it's full. I mean, I know basically what's in there but I'd have to think about it.

Good hunting. LB

If you have them to spare, I guess I could use? Thanks for the offer, Tim.

Mike, I've been looking for one of them and can't find one in stock anywhere. Now that I have the 9mm machine gun, it'd be a good choice for me.

Still want a no lock 640 though.

Why is that, Tom? Something to do with using the same 9mm ammo?

To each his own, but every time I pick up a machine gun, they seem awkward. Watched James get his 308 ready for a stand, loud chambering a round and it just doesn't agree with me, the whole routine, coming and going. I'm pretty sure that I won't have a change of heart anytime soon.

I had a guy night hunting from my truck. Couldn't get down on the rail like everybody else for a super accurate shot so he stood up and shot offhand. Now that is rude, Dude.

Good hunting. LB

Tom the gun & friend who has it came from "Baston Mass" area.It is the first time that i have seen one up close. You will probably like em'. I'm not sure i would stick one in my back pocket like i am known to do, but with a good small holster it should be plenty safe to carry with one in the chamber.
As for the AR/ chine gun, they ain't much of a "winder" gun slinging brass everywhere. But i do like that flattop 9 you have. To me they offer a alternative to a shotgun for anyone living in a housing tract if ever needed for home defense + they are just plain fun to shoot

ElBee, I'm thinking having the ability to load large amounts of 9mm for a range toy like the machine gun, a small carry pistol like the Shield and my full size M&P makes sense.

Mike, I handled the one in PV but it was already sold and I didn't get to shoot it. It's flatter than the J frame and similar in size. Concealing the full size M&P can be done but a smaller gun would be nice.

As long as a guy can use hollow points and +p or +p+ loads a 9mm is as much as i need. I compared it to my P7 , and it (Shield) is a bit bigger. The guy who owns it can't use H.P. ammo in Mass, and that mite be an issue to me. I would consider a 357 Sig or 40S&W w/ semi wadcutters if we had that shitty law here.

Hey Leonard I went to the range today to sight in my machine gun with the new handloads took my rem 700 to I found that I couldn't shoot my bolt action or my buddy's 300 or his 7mm mag as good as my machine gun makes no sense to me but when I can put 8 shots into a quarter sized hole that's what I'm going to use.Since I bought the Ar10 I haven't even pulled out my bolt guns tell this weekend probably just need more practice with them as Abel shot 1 ragged hole with my 7mm 2 times in a row I know its accurate but I cant shoot it under 1.5 moa consistently. so tell I get something I can shoot as good or better I'm sticking with the machine gun.

P.s. on a funny note my son must have turned my windage nob 2 times when it was laying in the case before I left. It made for some pretty funny shots I was scared for a second or 2, that's why you need to know your mechanical zero.

Hi stangguy, the thing i liked about the Shield is the "easy for me" pointability. The Glocks have always been difficult (for me) to pick up and shoot without taking an aim and adjusting my grip. I have big hands and they just don't fit a Glock.
The AR 10 is a nice weapon. Back before the Crime bill passed (1993) i had both an Armalite AR10 and a Kights Armament SR 25. The AR10 was about 900.00, the SR 25 was almost twice the price. They shot basically the same in every range session i shot them. The SR25 went down the road when the ban came into play because a guy who had to have one had a wad of money to spend. If your AR10 has a good 2 stage trigger in it, there isn't a whole lot you can't do with one. Hope you enjoy your rifle.

Okay, now do you think that you could address the issue I brought up? I am quite sure, while we were looking at a couple machine guns in the back of a pickup truck, you handed me two Russian cartridges which I assumed fit the two weapons lying in the bed of the truck.

Good hunting. El Bee

Not sure Leonard the only cartridges I had with me were .308 hand loads with Winchester brass and 155gr Sierra match kings I don't own any guns that shoot Russian I suppose I could shoot 7.62x39 but that's not Russian it's just military rounds if we ever get together again I will show you

Now I'm starting to think it was somebody else I was talking to? I sure as hell didn't imagine it. Sorry for the confusion. Oh well, who cares.

Doesn't shooting Russian ammo in an accurate rifle kind of defeat the whole purpose of having an accurate rifle in the first place??
