Not sure if I will find the answer here or not, but I have an old colt slide on an essex frame and I am getting it cerakoted. The slide does have some slop in it as it is an old pre 1945 slide. Will it hurt to cerakote the frame as well as the slide completely and just remove it where things are to tight. As I understand it cerakote has lubricating properties in it as well. Never have worried on my rifles but this 1911 is a whole different beast.

Not 100% relevant, but the Surgeon bolt on my 7WSM was Cerakote-d. After a few hundred cyclings with live rounds and a thousand or so dry fires, it's worn off to some degree... The barreled action & bottom metal are still in fine shape. Cerakote seems to be very durable in that regard, but on parts where friction occurs, it's gonna wear off, no matter what...

What's the reason? Maybe a teflon application would work? I don't know what cerakote is? Does it function, as is? What are you going to do with it?

I am going to shoot the hell out of it. The blueing is less then stellar now, so I decided a facelift would be nice. I got this 1911 because I like the old colt rollmark. Cerakote works very well on rifles so I figured I would go that route on this pistol.
