I know some of you despise the AR/Poodle shooter. I use to be in your camp, but I went over to the dark side years ago. I can probably thank Bill Clinton for that one. I just got in a big Midway catalogue. I was surprised to see the quantity of various AR calibers in there. Oh, I've known about all of these calibers in ARs for years, but it just never registered until I went thru the midway catalogue.

Here is the list from Midway's catalogue:
223/5.56
204 Ruger
6.5 Grendel
6.8 SPC
7.62x39
223 Wssm
243 Wssm
25 Wssm
50 Beowulf
450 Bushmaster
5.49x39

Pistol rounds
9mm
40 SW

Here is a couple more that I've heard of that are not in Midway's book:

Based on the 6.5 Grendel
6mmAR
6mmAR Turbo
6mmAr Turbo 40 Improved

Based on the 6.8 SPC
6mm WOA

Also, one could convert most of the above to an Ackley Improve version if so desired. I’m sure this list is far from complete, and feel free to add to it guys.

To me it all means the AR platform has come of age. I see so many shooters shooting ARs at Ben Avery of all ages; I believe everyone has one in Az. Why not have a poodle shooter when they are available in so many calibers. Of course, some states would rather be a suburb of China and outlaw them; but such states are a minority in the US luckily.

50BMG

We just got a bunch of BOHICA 50 BMG uppers at the store. They bolt right on to your standard .223/5.56 lower, not the AR10 lowers.

You can also get an AR57 upper which utilizes a 50 round magazine from the FN PS90 and shoots the 5.7x28 round.

Remington has the new 30REM cartridge they are producing for the R15 that they are advertising as the new end all be all deer slayer.

The AR platform is definitely a versatile bullet delivery system. Who'd a thunk it 10 years ago?

Now if they would just make a 17HMR upper I would be good to go out to 250 all day long if I did my part, but with the gallon wine jug full of piss I use on each set - getting them to hold still dead down wind is not a problem.
