This is turning into a really interesting project. Gaining 100+ fps velocity over the .243 with most bullets tried, with a smaller case and less powder. And it is shooting like a house on fire. My favorite so far is shooting a 75 grain V-Max at 3700fps and literally little one hole groups. I'm now very curious about necking this to 22 or 20 cal. I know it has already been done, but I may have to do some playing also. This case with a fast twist barrel in 22 or 20 caliber may really be something to launch some heavy for caliber bullets. I'll post some pictures shortly.

Glad it is shooting well for you Cal. I think they call the 22 version the 22 coyote actually? I think they call the 20 cal version the 20 satin? Got a couple quick questions for you. Did Len Buckes ever call you? I haven’t heard from him sense we last talked. Also I think I got the wrong number from you for the picture text. They kept coming back. E-mail me at wagoner@prairieweb.com your # and I will try again. My buddy’s deer officially scored 225. A friend of mines cousin killed a 240 class white tale I have a picture of also.

Good hunting.

I think the 22 version would be like the swift on steroids. I see that some are calling the 6mm version the 6mm Coyote. It's a really cool little case. Kinda spendy though. I'll e-mail my number Q. And no, I don't think that guy ever got in touch.

What would the vel. be with a lighter bullet such as a 70 gr.??
The reason i ask is i have a 6mm H.L.S. that is very simular except i use the 250 savage case and neck down to 6mm and move the shoulder back about half-way between the 22-250 and 6 B.R.. The case also has a very long neck to help reduce throat wear and alighn the bullet better.
Also what is the cartridge head dia.? Is it larger than a 22-250.. Thanks

It has the same case head as a 22-250 Tim. You can get some very good velocities out of the cartridge but you are running at higher pressures. There are a lot of factors that affect pressure from primers to powders to bullet weights to the condition of the boar and chamber. Some guns are faster than others but if you can get everything right you can run high-pressure loads safely and very accurately.

I went with the 6 x 47 because they were winning a lot of 1000-yard bench rest matches at the time and I like the idea of a small rifle primer. David Tubb created the 6xc and it is very close to the 6 x 47 Lapua. The xc can be made out of 22-250 brass but factory brass is available. This round also supports a large rifle primer. I think Daved went with the large rifle primer out of convenience and/or because he was concerned about ignition problems. That was the failing of the 22-cheetah. It was based off of a 308 BR case (small rifle primer) and suffered from ignition problems in colder temps.

My rig is set up for the heavy weights and I can get 3000fps with the 105s. I don’t want to run them much hotter because at around 80 dollars a hundred for brass I want to take very good care of it. LOL

Good hunting.

With just a rough guess, how fast do you think it would shoot a 70 gr..??
I did a little looking but it don't list any bullets under 105 gr.s...
How does it do on the coyotes as far as fur damage??
Would you have a link for the 22 cal. version.. thanks...Tim A.

TA, While doing some testing I was shooting the 68 grain Bergers over 3800 without showing pressure yet. At 4000 I pierced a primer so that was obviously too much. But I'm guessing that in my gun I could shoot the 68 to 70s at 3800 winter or summer with no problems. I am going to try some 80 grain Bergers later on, but I like the 75 V-Max so far. With the lighter bullets, it isn't going to be a fur gun. With Q's application it will probably do nicely.

Sounds real good Cal. Glad the rig is proving out for you.

I believe that the .20 Satan is based on the 6x47 Swiss case, which is different than the 6.5x47 Lapua brass. The Lapua case is a bit longer at the shoulder and has a bit more capacity (basically equal to the .22-250). I'm sure somebody has already done a .20 on the Lapua '47 case and given it some sort of name though. Could be the coyote already mentioned. Regardless, it would equal the .20-250 in capacity, with better brass and of course the small primer. No doubt it would be hell on wheels.

I took the 17 Pred. in to the gunsmith today for a check-up and i asked him about the 6x47 and he happen to have a few cases laying around..
The 6x47 is almost a clone to my 6mm H.L.S.
My gunsmith just so happened to have a Stiller Pred. action laying there on the bench that will be barreled and chambered for the 6x47 and will be going to Florida.. Nice little cartridge thats for sure..
