Can anyone tell me about this cartridge? What case is used and how does it compare to the 17 remington? Where does one get one?

Thanks in advance for your help.

It is a necked down 221 Fireball. It is a nice round, not as fast as the 17 Rem but barrels last many times longer. With the heavier bullets it makes a nice PD and ground squirrel round. You can shoot it almost continuously without worrying about barrel heat.

Gets my vote, as well. I have always considered the Remington cartridge as borderline "overbore".

Good hunting. LB

One of my favorites. In my 24" 10 twist Lilja, I'm running 25's at about 3900, and 20's at 4200. About 100 - 200 fps behind the .17 Rem., depending on the particulars of the individual specimens being compared.
