I am going to call coyote and the occasional red and grey fox and am using a 12 guage. What would my best choices be in ammo ?

Will be using full choke and expect shots at 40 yards give or take 10 yards. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Selling the hides is the plan.

If you can find it, Copper plated lead BB's work great. I finally went to the #4 buckshot because it was hard to find the BB's.

Hi imlvt, welcome to the New Huntmasters. Glad to have you on board.

If you think you are 40 yards, plus or minus ten, then you had better stick with the #4 Buck. I use the double XX Winchester, 2 3/4".

I also have some 3" 2 ounce Federal copper plated lead BBs, but I disagree with Tim. [Smile] Unless the target is strictly foxes, and the range is never beyond 40 yards.

That load will not reliably put down a big dog coyote, except at close to moderate range. In other words, you usually have to shoot them twice.

Good hunting. LB

Thanks for the info. Best thoughts and # 4 stands as the ammo.

Hevi-Shot # 2. Have taken Coyotes at 60 yards. They are coming out with a new shell called the Coyote Gitter in T shot. www.hevishot.com.
