If so, what is your set up? Post pix if you can. I just bought a VVCG 232-250 heavy barrel in blued with camo stocks. I have not tried it yet so I was wondering how well they work as a predator rifle.

Embalmer. I have the Encore in the .50 cal. I am a big fan of the 22-250. I have to plead total ignorance of the VVCG 232-250. Can you please fill me in?.

Works for me. I'm shooting a standard .223 barrel. It'll shoot MOC. Follow up shots are a pain. But w/ practice, you shouldn't need them. Makes calling in doubles interesting.

Oh.. btw.. the 232-250 is a standard 22-250 case necked up to 2.32 inches. Here's a screenshot of the specs from AmmoGuide.com
Originally thought to be the perfect coyote round, (after all, who could miss a coyote w/ a 2.3 inch projectile?), the round never gained much popularity outside the benchrest community due to the lack of power required to expel the round from the casing.

Matt, where is your supervisor? Does the company know how you spend their time?

I use an Encore. 22/250, 308, 30-06, all Carbine Barrels blued, and I have a custom 10" blued barrel in 243 that I carry when calling lions as I prefer less weight to pack around. Have no trouble with quick second shots, as I was brought up on single shot shotguns as a kid. A quick second shot is a breese to do. Teaches you to make the first shot count. Steve

Rich, that's one of the reasons I love my job. I do my work, and they leave me alone. So the faster I work, the more time I have to play around. You're just jealous cuz you have to be self-employed to enjoy this kind of freedom. hehe.. I'd definately prefer the pay of the self-employed, though I wouldn't want your workload.
Back on topic, Rich, why don't you provide your insight? I understand you're an Encore/Contender man when you actually take a rifle afield. [ August 18, 2003, 02:21 PM: Message edited by: WolverineAtWork ]

Welcome to the New Huntmasters, Embalmer. Glad to have you on board. Interesting line of work.
My experience with Contenders is holding one that belonged to Rich Higgins, and asking him how to break it open. I'm sure, in the right hands; they are wonderful.
Good hunting. LB
edit: yikes, is a Contender different from an Encore? Maybe I never even seen one? [ August 18, 2003, 04:10 PM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

Well I will be sighting it in and breaking in the new 22-250 barrel tomorrow so I will see how it shoots. Even though I am only breaking it in I should get an idea of how it groups. I'll post some results later

If you see an old dude that looks part coyote with a silver Jeep or a silver Dodge Dually at a CSVCA meeting it will probably be me. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

One of these days I will take out my Encore pistol in .270win. That should put one down. I do have a 22-250 barrel for it, but I haven't had time to get it up and going yet really. I've been busy with the 270 and rem. 700 .243, and Ruger .357. I hope it shoots well for you!! Mine does. Regards,
Matt
