Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the CZ? I am thinking about ordering one in a 221 Fireball. I believe its a mod 527. I haven't been around them and my gunsmith can't find a 700 in the classic. Looks like a handy little gun.

Cal,
I have the CZ 527 in .223 It's a hell of a nice little rifle. The only negative I have about it would be the Safety. It operates in reverse of what my thumb thinks it should, and I don't like to have to slip it to "fire" to open the bolt.
I don't think you'd be disappointed in it at all.

Cal, There has been a ton of chatter about the 527 for the past year or so on several shooting forums I watch. All those that have them are saying it was a great buy for the money, is well put together and most important, they all seem to shoot. I personally resisted buying one because I didn't like the magazine hanging there. I got an opportunity to buy an 20 caliber wildcat that I was interested in that happened to be built on the 527 action for an excellent price so I swallowed hard and jumped on it. It shoots great and the magazine is becoming more appealing as time goes by. A recent thread on one of the forums referenced a 527 owner taking it to a gunsmith to have the action trued. Gunsmith said it was perfect as it was and he couldn't do anything to improve it. Several other posters followed saying that their smiths had told them the same thing. Sounds like the CZ people did their jobs. Hope this helps. Jim

Cal T, I am in the same boat,I'm interested in a 221 fireball, something to fill the gap between rimfire and 22-250.I just read the things that JLDakota stated myself and was impressed with the feedback on CZ.I figured on shooting the light bullets and if that didn't pan out-make it into a 17 mach4,that I been wanting.I emailed CZ to ask about the 221 chambering--no reply yet.Do you know for sure that there will be a 221??
DAA,has two Classic's one 221-and one rebarreled to 17 mach4-says the 221"just sits"in the cabinet.Picture I saw of 2 coyotes dead didn't reflect that but that's what he said.. ..
I got a 17hmr CZ 452-american with a 5.5x16.5 nikon monarch for fox and crow calling.Took it to the range after floating the barrel, brookie's 2lb. trigger kit, polish crown, fritz lap the barrel. It shoots consistent .75" groups at 100yds.some .50"a couple of times I had to get down and stare at the hole to see that it was actually 2 holes.3 shot groups by the way.I am amazed to say the least,at the rimfire's accuracy.
Also remember reading a guy inquiring why his CZ 222 could shoot almost the same group at 200yd.as it did at 100yd.--some talk about bullet hadn't stabilized at 100yd.Group at 200 was under an inch.<Pretty cool. Mike

Sporterweight' I don't know if the CZ is out yet in the 221 but it is listed in several wholesale catalogs that my dealer has, he is checking on availability as I type this so I hope to know something in the next day or two. I had heard that they weren't actually going to be available until around Sept.1. I'll let you know as soon as I do.
