Alright, complete neophyte to reloading my own ammo, but am gonna take a shot at it with this new 25-6 I bought. Need some suggestions on what fixin's any of you -06 guys have had success with so at least I can start in the right stadium, if not right in the ballpark. I'm shooting a Ruger Model 77 Mark II. One of my gunners has offered to give me the dies for this caliber. Any and all suggestions welcome.

Vast subject. Too vast to try and cover in a post. You would do much better to ask specific questions, then we can give detailed answers. It would help to know what your objectives are, too. Some guys just want to try and save money, make the rifle go bang, not much more. Others want to obsess over tiny details striving for the most performance they can get.

My first advice would probably be, don't take those dies unless they are good ones. And if he's giving them away, they probably ain't... Unless you are primarily interested in saving money. In which case, you might be better off not starting down this road...

I have had three in that general persuasion, and my initial suggestion is to concentrate on 100 grain bullets exclusively. Doesn't matter what you intend doing with this caliber, a 100 grain bullet will do nicely.

When you get to that point, we can discuss powder selection, if you like?

Good luck, LB

A good place to start is to get the edition V Sierra manual and read it all. It is very well written and will answer questions you didn't even know you had.
