One article I read about this new law against the 2nd admendment made it illegal to purchase ammo from a neighboring state. I wonder if this law will impact non residents traveling into califonia?

http://ux.rgj.com/story/news/politics/2017/12/25/workarounds-new-c alifornia-gun-laws-already-play/980585001/

Finally found this other article so I edited it in:

Both of thee laws have been found to be unconstitutional back in the 60's. The reason the SCOTUS looked into it was because California was trying to implement them.

I was the very first one to be found to be violating the Mulford Act back in the late 60's. An assistant Attorney General came to our Pasadena chapter monthly meeting to explain the law to us. The state legislature was going to work and was met by Black Panthers carying sidearms on the Capital steps. They got in a panic and went inside and passed the law. The assistant AG said the law didn't apply to legitimate sportsman and would only affect the criminal element. The SCOTUS ruled that any law that is aimed at a group and wasn't going to be enforced equally was unconstitutional. There were other problems with the law as well.

When I went to court the Public Defender's office represented me. Vincent Bugliosi was the prosecutor charged with trying to put me in prison. I had letter from the state's Ag and Ronald Reagan. When the judge saw my letters he dismissed the case. Bugliosi was livid pissed and let me know it by yelling threats at me out of the court room.

Fast forward 35-40 years. I decided to do some calling in some of my old haunts in California. When I read the hunting regs I was dumbfounded. The same laws were still in affect even though they were found to be unconstitutional.

California doesn't care about the constitution. I think they pass unconstitutional laws intentionally in an effort to break the NRA with legal fees.

Another factor....For me this is a mute question because I can no longer get out but I did make a yearly trip through California to do some calling.

I have 3 rifles that are very difficult to find ammo for. No factory ammo is available for one of them. My 222 mag and my 220 Swift are very near impossible to find ammo for and my 223 AI has no factory ammo available so I reload for them and carry the ammo with me. Besides, I haven't bought factory rifle ammo in many years. I have guns that have never seen a factory cartridge.

Is the state saying I can't use those rifles in California and saying I can't carry my own ammo into the state? If that's the case the state legislature is made up of some pretty pathetic, uniformed morons.

Go ahead, rub it in, I deserve it.

As far as the ban, restriction on ammo purchases via mail order from out of state. Yes, that's for real, effective last December 18, I "think" because if you order by then, the shipping would not overlap into 2018. No matter how you slice it, it is an infringement on my freedom. One, of many. It's amazing how the people sent to Sacramento consider it their duty to restrict my freedom.

And, exactly what is accomplished? I happened to be in BassProShops last week and bought a magazine for my Shield and a couple boxes of 22 rimfire just because they were kinda cheap, something like $3.60 for 50 Federal, called a hunting cartridge of some type? So, that's what I would pay mail order, I can't complain about high cost because I've paid more than that from Natchez, plus shipping. Plus, I spent my saved up bonus dollars so it really didn't cost too much. BUT, STILL! It's bullshit.

What can be done about the Democrat domination in Sacramento? I lost my Republican congressman not very long ago. Why? redistricting. Or better known as gerrymandering. Couldn't stand it that we have a little pocket of conservatives in what's called the West End of San Bernardino. Gotta stamp out all opposition. In other words, the future looks bleak.

Her's a little news item. You know, I could care less about the Rose Parade, I have never attended, in person, although I have always lived within 20 miles of the event. I turned on the TV to check out football and noticed something that is a product of the times. Used to be, all the networks would televise the Parade, or at least a couple plus a couple local stations. Right now, there is only one station, local KTLA channel 5 that is showing the parade. Like I said, I don't give a shit, but like the song says: "The Times, They Are A Changing"

Look, Trump wasn't my first choice but compared to Hillary, it was a no brainer. Maybe the worm is starting to turn? At least Nationally. The People's Republik is a lost cause. Let them withdraw from the Union, recruit their own Army, Navy and Airforce. And then they can pay for all of their imigrants without the help of taxpayers who are leaving this fucked up state, or the federal government. That should tone down this stupid Liberalism. One can only hope!

The condition of this state is disgusting. And, no thanks to the current governor, Fairy Jerry Brown.

Moe. I don't know about factory 220Swift? I bet I haven't bought ammunition for my Ruger Model 77, in what? Maybe never? and I bought it in 1975. But, a couple hundred cases should last ten years, at least for me, it does.

Now, the 223Ackley, well, you knew at the start it was a hand loading proposition. I've got one myself, it's okay but still not a great coyote cartridge. I guess what it does is allow me to drive 55 grain bullets just a little faster, which helps a little bit.

A 222 Rem Mag? You are in trouble with that one, I'm afraid. It's a decent cartridge but it's just dropped on the wayside. The 223 has won, I think? Yeah, I know it's a better cartridge to reload for, but that's your satisfaction along with the nostalgia factor. How about acquiring a 225Winchester, another one that lost the evolution race? Or a 218Bee? Ohh man! How about a 219 Donaldson Wasp? Not everybody on your block has one of those.

Okay, I'll quit picking on you.

Paul, it's worse than it appears on the surface.
This is a Federal versus State's Rights thing.
It was settled once already back in the mid-1800s.
They called it the Civil War.

Who was it that said 'If we forget the mistakes of our past, we're doomed to repeat it' ????

I have anecdotal evidence that there is white flight happening in CA. We have two houses in my neighborhood that were recently purchased by former CA residents. I hope they don't vote democrat. Arizona is already a purple state.

I'm thinking of a slow meld, maybe buy a house in AZ, familiarize with the neighborhood, alternate AZ and CA and then maybe make the complete plunge. Is that permissible?

Don't worry, I know about AZ people's hostility concerning new arrivals from CA. It has always been thus.

But, most of the residents are immigrants, themselves, a little hypocritical, don'tcha think? I have members berating me to move, encouraging me to get the fuck out, and then there is this behind the back treatment. They treat wetbacks better than legal new arrivals from The People's Republik.

It used to be the same in Oregon. They would bitch about the fucking Californians moving in and buying property and being responsible for the sky high property values. Can't win. I know people that would pull over and change license plates, (at least they said they did?) just as soon as they crossed the border because the locals would flip them off and generally give them the stink eye if they saw a CA plate. There's an adult attitude, right? AZ is headed down the same road. Damn, this California hate is pervasive!

Where the problem is is when migrants from Calif. or other third world countries leave their own shit-holes and then insist on turning our state into a gutter like they came from.

I moved here from Calif. by way of Wash. and have had zero problems. Learn a more laid-back lifestyle.
First we visit..........then we do business.

Maybe?

But you can't deny the hostility of the locals in regard to new arrivals from The People's Republik. Been going on forever. And yet, as night follows day, every bad policy seen in California is soon instituted in Arizona. At least, it seems that way.

I just might stop at my bank and see what kind of loans are available for those wishing to get the hell out. Even gas money would be appreciated.

Arizona can't be any differant than Nevada when it comes to shunning Californians. They moved in and fucked up everything and keep trying to make it like their beloved snowflake state.Lost Wages and Reno/Carson are just subburbs of that fucked up state.
Now I live in Tennessee and guess what.Californians aren't welcomed here either.
You can't win Leonard...

the lack of rude people was surprise to both Suzanne and I. Don't feel anyone is berating you Leonard just encouraging you we all know after being in one place so long its difficult to pick up sticks and go. California was at one time a beautiful place to live but sadly no longer .

Two things. I hear ko ko is a neighbor, and he is well known for the wild parties.

I am digging into a property right now. Has four walls, usual stuff. Hostiles have been subdued lately, but you never know?

However, this ammo shit is more evil than I thought? I can't see how it will prevail? I got something from NRA yesterday that not only can't I buy ammo from another state, via mail order, I can't buy it out of state and bring it home?

Besides that, they want only registered firearms dealers to sell me ammo. That seems like a surefire method to increase my costs? As it is, I handload damned near everything, except I weaken for certain semi auto pistols that fling empties all over the place. That's a strong argument for nice revolvers, brass lasts a long time and you don't lose any. The only gun I never got around to buying dies and hand loading is 25ACP. I hope I don't have to explain that, but if things get any worse, and I'm still here, I'll get the fucking dies right quick.

Democrats and Liberals are total assholes.

Good hunting. El Bee

edit:
PS just to show you how insidious this ammo restriction is, and not to mention, it's coming your way, New York, New Jersey and the rest of the usual suspects. But I happened to mention it to a girlfriend a couple days ago who wondered why on earth I would want to move from this glorious state?

She told me; Gosh, being able to buy ammo, mail order is "scary"! What, or who put that fucked up idea into her head? I mentioned that, apparently restricting my freedom doesn't bother her? I think the subject, thanks to the Media and those with a short attention span, they can't begin to understand the extent of the problem. And, there it is.

Well, it is a nice, well made, last ditch almost toy that can be concealed in your open hand if it is facing down.

I'm talking about a Frazier, or Bauer 25ACP, same gun. I think suited for maybe a female that doesn't like guns but it's so cute. I don't think I have put more than a couple boxes through it, the sights are ridiculous, something a bureaucrat mandated. It's a joke of a firearm but I guess it fills a nitch. It's supposed to be an exact copy of a Baby Browning, except it's in stainless, rather than blued steel. LB

edit: exactly why my father liked mine, and I bought another, for him, probably 25-30 years ago? He, a member of the Greatest Generation, died Sept. 18, 1989, the day I stopped smoking cigarettes.
