Well I just bought me a new .204 Ruger. I already have 2 that I don't shoot now, and I go and buy another one. lol
The reason I bought it was that a few months ago I bought a little CZ 452 in 17hmr, and absolutely love the little bugger.
So I was looking at there website and saw the little CZ 527 in 204 Ruger and they are damn near the same size so I had to have it..
The way I justified it was that if I don't shoot it as a .204 much I'll just break down and rebarrel it to 17 Tactical. I know stupid but oh well. It is definitely one sweet setup.
Put a nice little VX2 3x9-50mm Leupold on it and it's ready for action.

Sounds like good thinking to me!

Whatever? I also like the CZ rifles, but buying a factory gun with intentions on modifying it, is questionable. Unless of course, it's the only way.

So, humor me, what's the application for all these .204's? You see it/them as a daylight fur gun?

I bought the first two when the .204 first came out. First a T.C Contender barrel for my Carbine. Then a Ruger hawkeye they both shot well and I liked them but then I started shooting my .17 Tactical so they started collecting dust. But when I saw that little CZ 527 American I just had to have one. And the only calibers they have the Americans in are .204,.223,.222, and 221. So I thought I would just get the .204. I do want to shoot the 32 grain Nosler ballistic tips with this one. If it doesn't work out or I let it collect dust it will become a .17 Tactical shooting 30 grain Golds or 30 grain Nagels.. I think the damn thing doesn't weigh 7 lbs even with the scope.lol

Edit: Oh yeah and it is for daylight calling(fur harvesting).

I'm with ya Chad. I have the same rifle. Those CZ American's are pretty damn sweet.

All, I've done with mine is shoot sage rats. It was easy to develop a load for. I went with a VX2 in a 4x12x40 set up. Like your scope it matches the little rifle real well.

Unfortunately, I don't heed my own advice, but it sure seems that when you find something you really like, buy more. It seems all too often, they manufacturer will change it or quit making it.

I bought a CZ 452 in 17 HMR Varmint about a dozen years ago and the price was $265. A couple years later, I got my kid a CZ 452 American in 22 rf. I wish now I had bought a half dozen of them... Backwards safety and all. [Smile]

You done good Chad.

Thanks for the support guys I don't feel so bad about about getting it after hearing you guys talk it up.lol
I really do like this little sucker. I found a pretty good deal on some Norma brass for it too.
Like I said earlier I am really hoping that i can get good results from the 32 grain Nosler ballistic tips. I've heard good things about this bullet, the B.C is not to bad at .206. Not as frangible as the vmax and blitzkings.
I am done with the 35 grain bergers. That is all I used in my other two rifle. But they are pissing me off. They keep screwing around with there bullets. When I first started using the 35's they had a B.C of .191, then it changed to .184.
Now I see it is at .176... Then they are always discontinuing bullets. The latest was my favorite 17 cal 25 grain coyote bullet, the target match bullet.
I still use the 60 grain Bergers in my 22-250 Ackley at least until they decide to dump that one.lol

At risk of exaggerating, sometimes I think Berger has dropped half their line? When you consider all up and down calibers and weights, some bullets I used to use have just quietly been dropped. The selection has definitely narrowed, especially since Walt sold the business and they moved lock, stock and barrel to southern California. Seems like they aren't willing to build the new molds when one wears out? Consolidating, one size fits all.

Besides that, the categories are somewhat bewildering? Exactly what does target mean? varmint? hunting? I sometimes don't know what I'm getting? Of course, they're all doing it?

A California bullet company that wont even consider making a non lead bullet.

Then again, I have not looked in a while, I could be wrong?

Yeah that's why I have started to switch to different brands in my rifles. I usually shoot Vmax in my 17 Ackley hornet. And Kindler Golds in my 17 Tactical. I am going to call on some Nagel bullets too. Hoping that the 32 grain Noslers are the bullet for my 204 Ruger. And when I run out of the 60 grain Bergers for my .22-250AI , I will have to figure something out. But I'm tired of Bergers Bullshit..

JLKs would a more than acceptable alternative to Bergers. I shoot the 140s in my 6.5, and have a batch of 60gr LDs in hand to test in a new 1:12tw .22-243AI. If you wanna give those 60LDs a try in your .250AI, I can send a little care package out your way to see if they'll shoot for ya!?!

Hmm? Interesting, I wonder what kind of twist would be workable on that 65 LD?

KED, Those 60's are a damn good looking bullet. And I think they are the same length as the Berger. If you have a few I would definitely buy some from you to try out. I still have 4 or 5 hundred of the 60 grain bergers left but if those do well I might just switch. Thanks for the link. Any idea on the B.C?

Nice I always wanted a cz American. My first center fire rifle was a tiny Norinco 223 that I think is somewhat close but obviously not near the quality..

Chad, the 60LD is posta be G1 b.c. of .339, but that's according to the link. I'd hafta confirm that when I get this barrel spooled up.

If you get me an addy, I send ya some to try. Would 20 be enough to get a feel for 'em?

I'll volunteer DAA Dave as intermediary [Wink] think he has my # ?!? If not, I'll call him & we'll go from there...
