Okay, they say when dinosaurs roamed the earth it was tropical warm water where there is a desert.
Then the big outer space rock smashed into the earth and killed everything and plunged the earth into deep cold climate.
Haven't we been warming up every since? Aren't we going to keep warming up to tropical temps one day?

Gawd, getting old and doing some deep thinking is scaring me. [Big Grin]

The whole concept is Ca Ca! They say earth is exactly 4.52Billion years old. What does it work out, the median temperature, in Celsius because these experts are serious scientists, and they KNOW! So do not question that they say....or else! 100 scientists have reached a CONSENSUS and they know things, and the dreaded CLIMATE CHANGE is real, folks. Furthermore, the Arctic is melting!

We pay these guys to be infallible experts, kinda like the Pope. And if you make fun of them, they will sue you!

You are warned!

Interesting.
We've actually had a very mild temps this winter.
Says it's 40 something degrees out right now. But nothing is dripping.
Settling maybe.
Snowed for a couple of hours this morning and maybe got an inch.
Went out and plowed out just because.
Looks like we'll be plowing out tomorrow sometime.
Went into the low valley last Sunday and from our old place down into the Emmett area it needs moisture big time. Payette/Ontario area was a little wetter.
This storm this morning dumped a fair amount of moisture in the valley. Hope it puts more down.

Earthwalker;
It's real simple; ........... The Earth has been warming since the end of the last ice age. It will continue to warm until the beginning of the next ice age. This has been going on, regular as seasons but on a much larger scale for many several hundred thousand years.
And there ain't a damn thing we can do about it !!!
Although, it has been suggested that sacrificing Greta Thungberg to a volcano might help.

I dunno ................. you're the expert on women. What's a good pick-up-line to convince a homely little mutt to let herself be tossed into a volcano ????? [Confused]

Yeah, right! An expert on good looking women. With Muts like Greta, I wouldn't know? The Hawaiians have some experience throwing maidens into volcanos, you might do a little research on that?

But, just think of the control freaks of "CLIMATE CHANGE" that have so fucked up this little girl's mind that she is constantly angry. I sure hope those assholes are satisfied!

What we need is a little Serenity in this world. Never mind that they are convinced that banning plastic bags and recycling will save the damned planet. How can they be so content to be so worried about that which they can do nothing, but they will force others to do things that might solve an imaginary problem. It's so screwed up, I don't know where to start? How do you deprogram somebody that has been institutionally brainwashed their whole life?

Here's something I just thought of. As far as the world, or my little corner of it. I can remember very well when I was a kid, that we had such bad air pollution that you eyes would burn. Not only that, but you could see it. I lived in the San Gabriel Valley and the prevailing wind would blow the smog of Los Angeles easterly where it would back up against the mountains. In those days, everybody had a backyard incinerator, which was great for reducing the volume of trash but contributed to the poor air quality. So, on that one issue alone, we are far better off today. Where vehicles might get 10-12 MPG, today they get probably double that milage? There are lots of reasons to be optimistic about the environment, work to make things better, but this kid Greta is a sick puppy. She is so bitter and hateful, you can see it in every photograph, it's a shame. Then she PARROTS the slogan: "HOW DARE YOU!". It's obvious somebody wrote the script for her speech at the UN.

It sure seems like we have a lot of Ball Busters in this world, like Ilhan and AOC and all the Lefty's. And they all want somebody else to fix things. I am thoroughly disgusted with "Environmentalism".

Enviromentalism; Seems to be when we care about plastic straws in Calif. killing sea turtles..... somewhere, when the reality is that Calif. is a short step away from outbreaks of a bunch of Middle Ages diseases in the homeless camps that will spread and spread fast.
Rats carrying plague fleas, cholora, (sp) typhoid, disentary (sp)
Fun times ahead but at least you won't see plastic bags blowing in the wind.

I've tried to not get upset about the bag thing in Oregon. But, straws give me a break !!

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on January 27, 2020, 01:06 PM:

I sure hate to say, "I TOLD YOU SO" But, I told all you guys that this fuked up state is a prime mover in all things PROGRESSIVE! I don't care what it is, when it starts in The People's Republik, pretty soon you will have Liberal politics in places like Colorado! How did that happen? Well, when you get the city of Denver as the huge population center it is, the whole western slope, as they call it, is very rural and very conservative. I have hunted in western Colorado for many years and I would never believe that the state would flip and now Republicans can't catch a break. But, what can you do? Close the border and not allow any Kalifornia assholes to move into Denver?

Beats me but now you say they have pressured to ban friggin' plastic bags in Oregon? Well, there is no doubt that the coastal areas have always been Granola Country, but, why don't they be original and quit emulating the state they all love to hate? As I said a number of times, it has been proved that those so called "one time use" bags, not only are reused, but it has been proved that they only constitute (at the most) 3% of all trash observed along the highways. (see, anybody can make up statistics!) But, in this case, it's just that aggravating habit of Liberals to force everybody to do things their way. I remember, as a kid, the biggest environmental threat along my part of the Mississippi River was used condoms! This is no kidding, and as a 12 year old, doing his Tom Sawyer routine, I saw a lot of it and I was amazed by all the used rubbers along the rocky shore. I vowed to pass a law when I grew up to outlaw single use condoms, or die trying! OK, I'm just kidding, but not about all those damned condoms along that stretch of the river. It's all perception, and other than an occasional dead fish, the whole Minneapolis side was littered with condoms. Must have been some sort of Lover's Lane, or something?

But getting back to plastic bags, it's a bogus issue! We do not now and they never have been a problem. Okay, maybe ten cents is a pittance but there is no doubt that the public is being overcharged at least a thousand percent. Walmart is one of the worst. I am in line behind people that buy a whole basket of stuff and they all load up on FREE plastic bags, courtesy of Kalifornia taxpayers! So, I pay for that asshole's free bags! And when they get to me, I cannot afford to pay for those overpriced bags and pay for the guy in front of me, as well!

And, here's another thing. People that aren't on EMT, or whatever it's called, poor people eligible to get their bags for free, but they never come into the store with a bunch of used bags, like I do! Hell no! I have the whole back of my car full of one time use plastic bags and I bring them into the store. But those people that get the bags for free, they don't recycle the free bags! Not once have I seen welfare people walk into the store with an armful of free bags. Fuck no! Why should they? Some other chump is paying for their free bags so they have no respect and throw their free bags in the trash while I recycle bags that they charge me ten cents for! Yeah, ten cents is such a small amount in this state when a gallon of gas is today, $3,54.9 per gallon.

It's just that they ream people on the one hand and are so generous to poor people, on the other. Friggin' SOCIALISM!

But! But! it's spreading! Soon, Arizona, and Oregon and Washington State and Colorado, and New Mexico has been Democrat for a long time, but pretty soon, you people in FLY OVER COUNTRY will find out what I'm talking about! Liberals want to spread their misery. God! They are so screwed up! Trump is some kind of lucky aberration, but he might be a bump in the road towards total socialism.

Straws? No lie! I saw a 10 pack of camo'ed paper straws for a dollar at BassProShops. Has got to be some kind of joke, like camo rolls of toilet paper? I could camo up a lot of that stuff very easily.

Mark my word! The State you all love to hate is coming your way! Film at 11!

You are correct LB. Kalifornia is headed everyone's way sooner or later !!

You are also correct this bag & straw shit started on the western end of Oregon several years ago.

Rural eastern Oregon just got it shoved up their asses. The natives ain't to happy.

Hell living here on the border in some ways might just as well be an Oregonian ?

I spend whatever I can in Idaho, our options are sort of limited compared to slipping over the line into the big city of Ontario pop-12k ?

Or it's a 25-30 mile drive into populated Idaho.

And y'all made fun of the KU-KState fight last week. Rectangular states my ass. Art imitating life, friends. You just have to know Kansas. This state is two completely different mindsets, not unlike southern Kalifornia and the rest of the state.

KU is in Lawrence which sits in the NE corner of the state between Topeka and KC. Aside from Wichita, that's where much of our state's population lives and the folks west of Topeka are goddamned sick and tired of the liberals and queers in Lawrence dictating to us "hayseeds" how we should live. K-State was the first land grant university in the country and is proudly all agriculture, all the time. True KStaters bleed purple and do not intermingle with the blue bloods of KU. KState has rodeo club, KU has the "equestrian club".

Phuck that!

Kstaters have gun racks and stock trailers. KWHo'ers have priuses. True story.

That fight at the end of last week's game was a test run of Civil War 2.0. As far as KState is concerned, those sumbitches started it, just like they always do, and they need their limp-wristed asses kicked. I'm waiting to see a northern Kali group go kicking ass in LA. Until then, y'all ain't up for the struggle.

Well we got hammered with snow on Sunday.
Got 7 or so inches probably closer to 8 when all said and done.
Every plow on anything mechanical was out and pushing snow yesterday morning.
Took us close to 3 hours to plow out. Plus we did 3 neighbors.
Seemed like it was a isolated swath of snow or it circled for hours.
Stanley got 3" Salmon didn't get anything.

As Greta the little punk. Ask her what has she physically ever done to help the earth? Ask her if she has ever studied history? She is a glory seeker and that is all.

I find this old article very interesting. Habbibullo Abdussamatov, the head of the St Petersburg Observatory, noticed before 2008 that the ice on Mars was disappearing. He was the first scientist to notice this and believes the warming trend that earth and mars are currently enjoying is most likely due to a decrease in solar radiance from the sun that we share. He also believes there is a good possibility that we could be heading into an ice age due to a decline in solar radiance according to a different article about Abdussamatov’s theory. Also, the attached paragraph below from this article also mentions warming trends on other worlds within our solar system.
“Global warming on Neptune's moon Triton as well as Jupiter and Pluto, and now Mars has some [scientists] scratching their heads over what could possibly be in common with the warming of all these planets … Could there be something in common with all the planets in our solar system that might cause them all to warm at the same time?”
I find it statistically very probable that the sun is a very large reason for our recent warming trend when coupled with science showing this is happening with other worlds too.

Well Az, thanks for that. But, somebody has been talking about that for 20 years now! ME. But I had to gag reading your post; scientists pondering what could possibly cause warming on all those planets? A second grader could have given those eggheads a hint. Sunspots have always affected weather on earth, just as much a part of the solar system as Mars and Neptune's moon.

I'm typing slowly for the Liberal audience....NOTHING IS STATIC! There are seasons, there are cycles, there is change! After it warms up, it cools down!

And, still typing slowly, slowly.... how about this? Within a trend, where it' is warming, there can be a trend of cooling bucking the warming trend. All of the climate bullshit is so stupid and I don't understand why Liberals are so focused on CLIMATE CHANGE. Mental illness! Take a damned tranquilizer! why worry about something we cannot control? Banning straws is pissing in the wind! I can't believe these people are so friggin' stupid!

There is so much to question about the SETTLED SCIENCE. It is well known that they manipulate the data when it doesn't fit their projections. How about the fact that they place the temperature recorders INTENTIONALLY, in especially hot locations, like in the middle of a bunch of skyscrapers, or right in front of exhaust fans from a building air-conditioning unit. If it's not intentional, it's done with stupidity.

It's just a stupid thing to worry about; MAN CANNOT CONTROL NATURE! What? Send a Peace Delegation to the Sun with protest signs! Only CNN would consider covering that protest.

I'm not picking on you at all, Az. I just cannot get over the stupidity of the Left!

Well, it seems to me, with the type of sandy soil you have, and the fact that your daytime temperatures can get well above freezing, that your snow only persists in shaded areas. It melts and sinks into the groundwater, not a lot of runoff? Or am I wrong? Trying to remember your elevation? Not as high as Williams, which is not as high as Flag?

Anyway, you must be near ready to start punching cows on your little spread? Impressive, actually making something out of nothing.

And, what's with this 6.8 gadget? What keeps somebody from not paying attention and inserting a magazine of 5.56 boolets?

No offense taken Leonard. I believe most of the liberal politicians don’t even believe in global warming. They just want the carbon tax credits coming in so they can WASTE OUR money on THEIR progressive programs like free medicare for all and free education. The cost to run these programs will consume 90% of the revenue with only 10% going to the citizen end user if we are lucky. Also carbon taxes will be distributed unevenly. Those of us that must drive a lot will be paying a larger burden at the gas pump while mega millionaires will be taking tax payer subsidized subways to wall street. Those who are lucky enough to live in Portland will pay very little because of all the power generated by the Columbia river. These liberals are too afraid to run on a campaign of higher income taxes for everyone to evenly distribute the cost. If they really believe this was a real issue, climate change, they wouldn't be afraid to talk about an even distribution of the burden. However, we all know it is just a bull shit issue with the government taking away more of our freedoms and taxing more of our money.

CORRECTION

It was a mistake for me to say "with only 10% going to the citizen end user if we are lucky".

All of us know full well that they will give these same benefits to illegal immigrants too.

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on January 31, 2020, 12:08 PM:

No doubt, Paul. Nobody said any different.

You know, the last 200 pound hog I killed went down like a ton of bricks. 223Ackley Improved, 55 grain Hornady V Max.

It's not a bad little rifle, Model 700 SP, and everything was going along like clockwork, until I hit a coyote in the chest, sorta facing me but about 10-15* quartering, which is all I can use to explain how he jumped up when I wasn't looking, and took off like his tail was on fire. Never stuck another bullet in him but we tried. Anyway, that right there, pissed me off enough that I never used it again. Bought that 22-243 Middlested and am quite happy. Anyway, the 223Ackley did dump a real nice hog, easy 200 pounds.

I sure dwell on that failure a lot. I'm not used to runners and don't tolerate them when they do occur. That's also why I hung up the AR15, too many 3rd and 4th shots on a fussing coyote. That was an easy decision. I think I put about 15 rounds into 4 coyotes, every one well inside of 100 yards. I don't put up with that shit. Now, a 6.8 (something) is another matter, I have no quarrel with that cartridge.

But, I have some strong views on what makes an adequate coyote cartridge, I have no quarrel with the 17 caliber affectionadoes, If they are happy, I'm happy, but I like a little more lead. One thing that bothers me is the trend to solid copper bullets. I don't think they plug the bore well enough, for accuracy and back pressure. And! I don't like being dictated to by regulations because of completely bogus lead poisoning reasons. That's just another Liberal fucking lie, like GLOBAL WARMING! Just pick the lie, Liberals are always jerking us around with bogus issues.

Don't like Remington's never have why would i spend $700. on a rifle just to take it to the smith and make it shoot. Just buy a Savage, little ugly but right out of the box accurate.

I couldn't disagree more. The Model 700 Remington is a classic and I trust it. I have no quarrel with Savage, never owned one, I ordered one, once, but canceled a 22-250, before it was the 22-250 Remington. So, I'm thinking that must have been about 1964, or so? Probably a big mistake, when I bought a 98 Mauser instead? But the 270 did everything I wanted, until I started hunting coyotes and that gun was never what you might call a tack driver. Very adequate deer and elk but night shooting at standing coyotes way out there, it produced a few off shoulder hits and runners. 110 gr, Sierra. I sold that rifle, wish I had not, I'm not that type, (like some others, here [Smile] ) But then, they do tend to be stacked in the safe, although in those days, I had lots of room with racks in a triple bolted door. I was late, with a burglary to appreciate the advantages of a real safe. I lost a 25'06Ackley with a beautiful laminated thumbhole stock in that deal, was never adequately compensated. It was made by PO Ackley himself.

Rambling a little, excuse.

It is? Supposed to be due north. How can north be straight up? I will give it a try tonight. But, I did hear something about magnetic north having shifted a bit. Would have to be more than a "bit"? It's been showed on maps as around 13 degrees off true north. But it's been gradually shifting for a long time. That's due to all of Lance's hoarded gold stacked up in the back bedroom. Thank you, but I don't disagree with your choice. Savage makes decent rifles. Some say the reason is their barrels have cut rifling instead of swaged or button rifled but for whatever reason, they do perform way out of proportion to the price.

I have an old friend that was quite involved in bench rest competition, something I personally have only done rarely. But, the thing about him was that he used a Savage heavy target and was not embarrassing himself at the end of the day with others using super custom actions and barrels and everything exotic and custom, price no object. That says a lot for Savage, and was duly noted by the guys on the next bench with $20,000 rigs. In this case, especially next to the gleaming hardware all around him, his rifle was especially butt ugly.

What I'm saying is, sometimes those Savages are stinky but they seem to shoot. The 110 action is very sound, by the way. Seems like these days, they aren't giving them away?
