The saga continues. First it was bullets in .429"
then searching for carbide dies in 44Mag and still looking for brass but today I got a hundred 44Special cases. I've been sitting on those 2 pounds of H110 for a couple weeks now and I got a hundred large pistol primers at BassProShops a month ago. I never thought I'd see the day that I would spend eighty bucks for a thousand primers! Of all the primers I have on hand, the one I am short of is/was large pistol primers because I loaded a bunch of 40S&W probably 6 months ago.

one thing I noticed, browsing a bunch of online ammo supply sites over the past couple of weeks, that there is lots of 40S&W ammo, brass and bullets available. Too bad because I have lots of handloads and A LOT of factory ammunition; In 40S&W.

Actually, I'm not in need of anything, oh maybe if I could find a couple boxes of Winchester SilverTip 32ACP 60grain, I would have to get them but the price is insane! I fucked up and bought 4 or 5 boxes of 71 grain, and they won't fit in the magazine of my Seecamp. If anybody out there can use them, I will make you a deal you can't refuse, as the Godfather used to say.

But, it looks like people have really panicked on ammo, any ammo and any components. This is definitely worse than last time, and last time was pretty bad.

What's really pissing me off is the way those bastards in Sacramento have choked us off on any kind of firearm. I get a few gun mags and I get physically ill and very upset when I read about all the latest and greatest offerings from all the various gun manufacturers. None of it is available in The People's Republik! It's pathetic and shameful! They have that phony law requiring microstamped firing pins, which nobody makes, or intends to make because it's stupid and apparently, it stands zero chance of repeal. Democrats are evil bastards!

Try buying .38 special. None to be found locally and online prices are over $.60 around plus shipping. Just a few years ago it was cheaper to buy .38 special, than to reload it. I guess I'll stick with 9 mm.

Yeah, I used to load 38 Special, but gave that Lady Smith to my daughter. (sweet gun) Oops! I guess I can be prosecuted for that? But I had a very hot load with the Hornady XTP 110gr. and H110. It will get your attention, right out of Hodgdon's #25. Great load!

60 cents? The only 44Mag ammo I saw yesterday was two bucks each. This is getting ridiculous!

One thing I noticed is powder is loosening up. I saw some Winchester, some Hodgdons, some Vituviori (sp)
and some bullets but brass is still very tight.

If I had to guess, I'd say rifle components are more available than handgun.

And loaded ammo? Forget it. Some of my bookmarked pages for reloading stuff, the link don't work any more.

It's grim.

Received a box of 44 cal. bullets yesterday. While all the standard bullet weights have dried up, I got 200 Speer 210 grain HP a coup le weeks ago and yesterday I received 100 Hornady 200 gr. XTP, a bullet I have used quite a lot in 38Special and 357Mag. But, I don't care if they are not the common and standard 180gr and 240gr. A boolit is a boolitand a rose by any other name, etc.

I do wonder, from time to time how certain bullet weights become standard? Why are 9mm bullets usually 115 and 124gr? Why is 230 gr. the 45ACP standard? Why 148gr. 38Special and why is 357 usually 154gr.?

What about the 40S&W? it's usually 165gr. that everybody makes. Well, okay. Maybe it helps to be uniform in loading data? We might not know where to start?

Anyway, it doesn't scare me. Maybe some people might say, no, no, I don't want to load no oddball 210 grain bullets in my precious Model 29! Who knows.it might blow up....right? Anyway, they make them for some purpose, a little extra speed or whatever? I think they will work just fine.

Looks like my ordeal has been going on for 53 days. This afternoon, doorbell rang and Fed Ex dropped off some plastic boxes and 100 brass. Okay, it's just 44Special, but they will work! Actually, I am very grateful to get them, and I've been all over the map, these were from Midsouth Shooting Supplies, everything else was from scattered sources.

edit: the brass is Starline but it's better than nothing!
