Ok, sitting here bored, raining.

Looks like I'm screwed for January, be outta town next weekend.

It got me to thinking. I've never really had much luck anyway, I'd say from after Thanksgiving on ?

Around here I'd have to say August if you can deal with the heat and September are best.

Just curious what others have to say ?

I have to sit out from Oct 1st through Jan 15th due to most all of my places being leased for deer hunting. So I usually like Feb the most but I'll hunt through March then hang it up.

I always say I'm gonna hunt through the summer once the pups get out but never do much of it.

I have always enjoyed shirtsleeve night hunting, August and September. Mainly because of experiencing November and December and January, the previous year.

But, for shear excitement, and big numbers, September and October have always been best for me. Hunting gets brutal by January. We (historically) would hunt Nevada until it got cold and switch to Arizona for the rest of the season.

Good hunting. El Bee

Yeah, that's another thing winter. I'll admit it's kinda starting to bother me.

Never-Never thought I'd say that. Up till a few years ago, I remember sleeping in the back of my Jeep. I have no idea how cold it was ? Zero maybe less ? climbing out getting hunting clothes on and going at it.

I'm losing steam !! where's my Viagra ?

February/March. I like the challenge of calling at this time of year. Especially here in Utah. And it is really fun when you fool a smart pair of Coyotes with Vocals.

For the sheer pleasure of calling big numbers its got to be October but not here in Utah.lol

Good Hunting Chad

November was good for us this season, December died, January starting to pick back up. My favorites are February and March, vocals work so much better.

For numbers, its September after Momma kicks the youngsters to the street..

January's not too bad. Think I called ~12 today. This has been a weird year. It was ~90 on Thanksgiving and about 75 today.

I really like Oct., 'cause I've been cooped up all summer and ready to get out there, but I really like Feb. because that's when they get more vocal and so do I and that makes it more fun for me.

When I lived in Montana December was the best month. The fur was at its best, the deer hunters were gone, and so were the gut piles. If the snow wasn't too deep and you could get around in your four wheel drive it was great. It was good hunting when it was about -15 to -25 with no wind because the coyotes would be moving to keep stocked up on the calories. And in that cold crisp air your calls and howls would carry for two miles. Plus most of the wannabes would be home watching football games and staying warm.

March is always best for me. Some people believe they're "educated' and harder to call the later it gets, I find them easier to call the later it gets. I don't even start hunting regularly until mid-February.
