Here's a little sumpin-sumpin to think about. I "retired" from writing about calling severals years ago due to family issues that needed my attention. About six years ago, I stumbled upon the idea as a fan of dystopian fiction, of a series of events that would bring our country to our knees. My story line was consistent with the time, but less so with today's political dynamics. With that said, one important subplot in my story was that the elite power structure in the United States was behind the detonation of nuclear weapons in our atmosphere, under the guise of terrorism, with the actual intent of destroying the ability of grassroot Americans to marshal a counter-offensive against them. I've taken something of a hiatus from that project some 23 chapters in but this hour-long video rallies my brain cells back to thinking.
What do you think would be the odds that, in the face of overwhelming opposition and violent response by American patriots, that liberal power players would go so far as to trigger a massive EMP to destroy our grid as a way of decimating their opposition?

Along this same line of thinking, a book came out in 2009 that takes a realistic look at the struggles of a small town in North Carolina when the national power grid is taken down by an EMP. The book was "One Second After" by William R. Forstchen with the foreword written by Newt Gingrich. The scenario that played out was not pretty with millions dying. The book was cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read.

I have increasingly pondered the idea of the polarization of society. Never mind the fact that the wounds from the Civil War have not healed and never will. At least, if you are a southerner?
But, this Liberal movement is so rude and overbearing, that I wonder what it will take, when they push us too far? Will it be about guns? Will they decide that for them to feel better, they need to disarm America? Will we be lambs lead to the slaughter? See, that's why I really fear and question the whole scenario. Will the "Establishment" have force willing to kill citizens that object to their heavy handed disarmament program? Will Military and Law Enforcement obey orders given by a President Hillary? Cut and dried, these people are resisting a lawful order and meet force with force. Is Military and Police the Drones they easily could be, and a French Revolution type of blood bath ensue.
I suppose we all have heard, vaguely, about the American Revolution, and the French Revolution? The thing is, while one might be considered a noble venture and outcome, the French Revolution was absolutely shameful! There were no good guys versus bad guys in that one, they were all bad guys, it's hard to even think that humans could be so cruel.
So, if we walked into a Kent State situation here, and the reactionary element, it could be ugly. And that Swalwell asshole reminds us that the government has Nukes! That guy is exactly the type of dickwad as President, that would call out the Screaming Eagles to machine gun the Tea Party because they didn't clean up their mess.

edit:well, now that I've watched the video, I can see that this guy has put some thought into a civil conflict up to and including WWIII. However, I didn't see much speculating as to what's next? I think he hinted at an actual partitioning, that's a little too much for me to zone in on right now.

To your point about the Civil War, Leonard, the real underlying tragedy of the modern effort to revise history is that today's youth are taught that the only reason for the War was because the South wanted to retain slavery and that the North was trying to do away with it be force. In reality, most Union soldiers fought to stop the dissolution of the Union through secession by the Southern States while, in the South, the main motivation was the issues they had with being bullied by northern industrial interests dictating to them how and where they would market their agricultural products. There are many parallels in today's political environment where liberals play the role of the north and conservative, 2A proponents represent the south. All it would take to trigger a second "Bloody Kansas" would be for one community to go after peoples' guns by force. As Twain once said, "History rarely repeats itself; at best, it sometimes rhymes." This is exactly why I am concerned and continue to be concerned about the systematic removal of Confederate statues and monuments. Whether or not you agree with what the South stood for, based upon your personal perspective, the fact remains that every symbol of the Confederacy is an opportunity to spawn questions and an even bigger opportunity to educate with the truth, rather than indoctrinating with lies.
The Fortschen book is excellent, I have all three in the series, including One Year After, and The Final Day. The 2nd and 3rd books aren't nearly as good as the 1st.
For anyone interested in the genre, some of the best are the Angery American series by Chris Weatherman. Chris was one of the first folks on the History Channel's ALONE series. As a connection with us, in the very first episode, the location where they dropped Chris was several miles south of another guy. They were showing the other guy setting up camp when a wolf howled in the distance. The guy took the opportunity to demonstrate his woodsmanship by howling back to the wolves. They went back and forth a couple times and I commented to my wife that the guy was going to send those wolves circling downwind and right into Chris's camp area, which is exactly what happened. The area became quickly unsafe for him and he had to tap out because the wolves were worked up and he felt things were too unsafe.
You gotta love reality TV. Watched a show this week called Alien Highway where they used a Lucky Duck call to try and call in a skin walker in New Mexico. A guy on the hill above them spots what was obviously a coyote charging in on the snow and the two people with the caller freaked out and ran for cover in their car.
Anyway, what were we talking about?

Did have a wild eyed hippie come in beating bushes with a walking stick looking for the person molesting a child. He smelled worse than a coyote and was about as ugly but I gotta admit, his heart was in the right place.

Hmm? I had a guy step out of the brush on the other side of a wash, looking around. He had a 3 ft. length of pipe in each hand. I stood up and waved. He waved back and left. A bit later, I saw his "compound" down the hill, not really too far from where I was calling. It looked a bit like a squatter's camp, he was Mexican. And, I was close to a melon field, so he was probably a farm worker?

I read all of the Conan books years ago. They are great and far, far better than the cheesy movies they tried to make out them.

Yeah, The Thing In The Crypt was an awesome read and they fuked it up in the Arnold movie. Could have been a great scene.
