As of now, locally, we will be required to put "garbage" in sealed plastic bags that will not be provided. There is no mention of fines, for non compliance....yet.

This is because of environmental control freaks. It seems that garbage is just too icky to go in the trash, now it must be bagged separately and placed in the GREEN BIN.

So, now that we are separating our plastics and things like aluminum cans, apparently we need several receptacles in the kitchen to deposit "waste".

This is another progressive requirement to protect the environment. It's like forcing us to pay for what they term, "single use" plastic bags at the grocery store. Around here it's ten cents each, which starts to add up. Personally, I have always put those plastic bags in the proper trash but Liberals have convinced lawmakers that everybody throws those bags in the street, as in litter and for many years, we have paid ten cents each for bags to carry our purchase, instead of stuffing those things in out pocket. This must be a huge profit for the grocery stores because ten cents must be at least a thousand percent markup in the actual cost of the bags.

It's all about control. Environmentalists are not satisfied with their own worry about the environment, they must force the rest of us to conform. Another MANDATE by the LEFT to control citizens.

Now we have another rule imposed by environmental control freaks. Suddenly, trash and garbage are codified and they have imposed rules governing disposal. It's like those NO BURN DAYS up in Olympia. Remember that? They get such a bad inversion layer that they are choking in the smoke from their fireplace and wood stove. Now we have rules. New houses cannot be built with a fireplace any more. I guess it's because of inversion layers a thousand miles away? Now, to get the warm cheery feeling of a crackling fire, you need a gas log to simulate a fire in the hearth.

And, have you noticed that these stupid masks are permanent for a significant percentage of the populace? I feel like asking them if they have a cold? You know, like before, it was common practice to see Asian people wearing a mask and you assume the have a cold and wear the mask as a courtesy to the public at large. Not any more. We have people that are so afraid of covid that they wear a mask everywhere they go! Pathetic. People so afraid of a virus that is less lethal than the common cold but they are scared witless that this Chinese virus will kill them so it's better to wear that worthless mask. Who are we kidding!

This is all it takes. The world is full of control freaks that want everybody else to conform, one soda straw or plastic bag at a time. Please read, (or reread) 1984 by Orwell, is it James or George? I forget? That's where we are headed! EVIL CONTROL FREAKS!

Pay attention to my rants, people! Little by little we lose freedom to dispose of trash in a way of our choosing. NOT NO MORE! They are coming for you. Don't say you weren't warned!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: I was just thinking about the good old days at the grocery store when they used to ask you: PAPER, OR PLASTIC? That was so long ago, you probably forgot about it already? Imagine, paper grocery bags! That's gone with high button shoes.

The bag boys at our local store still ask which you want.

In Kansas, masks are verboten socially. Yeah, there are idiots still wearing them but the majority of us point and laugh. The new big scare is RSV which probably stands for Really Scary Virus. People are just astounded that RSV cases are up, as well as flu. Not like we weren't warning them years ago - 2 to be exact - that all this hand sanitizer and isolation was gonna destroy at least 30 years of evolution in our natural immune systems. Now, the whole damned world is like a snot-addled daycare center for everyone and everyone's too stupid to figure it out.

No masks, paper or plastic, and everyone carries a gun. Don't know if I care for that California enlightenment or not. Oh, can't forget that we have a Hodgdon plant about 24 minutes from my front door in the SE corner of the country. Add that to the wheat, beef and steam engine and,.... make all the fun you want of us. We're good.

Well, somebody mentioned "BURN BARRELS" and I am pretty sure, around here, if you set some trash on fire in a burn barrel, the SWAT TEAM would show up before the turkey is half done, or whatever excuse you decide on.

Back in the 1950's in Southern California, everybody had an INCINERATOR in the back yard and the smog was horrendous! Back in Minnesota, we didn't have a real INCINERATOR, just a spot close to the alley where people had a kind of burn pit. And, in the fall when leaves dropped, we raked them into a pile at the curb and lit it on fire, no questions asked by anybody. Those were the days! Actually, it was quite common to see a 55 gallon drum for burning paper goods, cereal boxes, paper plates, etc.

This reminds me of Old Mexico. Imagine a 55 gallon drum with the top intact but upside down because of the bung hole. Anyway, you have on the other side when inverted, a nice flat surface for frying tortillas. They cut a slot in the side for stuffing twigs and any kind of branches and it's a jim dandy surface for any kind of frying , corn or flour tortillas and frankly, it's quite ingenious as a stove top, lasts forever. If I had a place like Paul Melching, our dearly departed member up in Ash Fork, I would have me one of these high tech tortilla manufacturers; and be the envy of all the kids on the block. Anyway, keep it in mind....makes a great stocking stuffer, too!

Another thing is that if you are lucky enough to have sage brush handy, boy. does sage ever make a nice fire! Hard to believe, if you have never made yourself a decent campfire while out on the Lone Prairie. And the smell is right up there with dead cedar or Juniper, almost intoxicatingly delicious! Do try it! Maybe in your Deluxe Mexican Range top? Hard to beat.

Good hunting. El Bee

Sage brush makes a quick hot fire that smells great but burns fast and doesn't leave much in the way of coals.
Sorta like burning cholla skeletons.

What I don't understand about Kansas, which seems to be pretty squared away, is the whole living above ground thing. One tornado comes along and your house is part of a wheat field.
Better idea; Bulldoze a big trench, build a Quansit Hut and cover it up. Tornado comes along and you lose the Gazebo and a bbq.

Yeah, but explain these double wides all over Tornado Alley? You would think bricks and mortar would be the preferred construction material in all those places where they get the cyclones. Beats me!

Just having a good laugh the other day with a couple locals about how folks who've never been here think living in Kansas is all about running from tornadoes and fighting off indians.

I'd guess that less than 10% of native Kansans have ever actually seen a tornado, and those that have consider it a treat. Just never seen anything as scary and as beautiful as a tornadic vortex. Truly something to behold. I've seen four and they fascinate me to no end. Chasing tornadoes is a spectator sport.

This past April 29, we had a strengthening storm cell approaching home and my garage was too full of shit to get my new truck inside. I opted to get out from under the storm. About 30 minutes in, NWS issued a tornado warning, first one this Spring. I have a new velocity radar app on my tablet and phone so off we went. First trained storm spotter to confirm a funnel/ tornado in the county that night. Ended up having 6 total. I think the fascination is to see such focused organization arise from such chaos.

Another truth most don't realize is that in order for a tornado to do any real damage, it almost has to score a direct hit on you. Couple hundred yards either side of the base and you're just picking up other peoples' shit. Now, the one that split my county several years ago was a mile wide which kinda makes the previous point irrelevant, but still, you had to be under it to take any harm.

I remember burn barrels. No bigger pain in the ass than dad making me and my brother load up the old barrel which had burned through and collapsed on itself into a pile of ashes and old rusted soup cans to make room for the new barrel. New burn barrel was a big deal. LOL

And then there is the sight on the horizon down in old Mexico of black smoke and you know that someone is burning stolen electrical wire to remove the insulation and the temper so that it is easier to compress. Seems industrious and harmless if you don't know that most of it is from, in place, and working, and functional residential and commercial wiring. Mexico is so fucking backward, you just can't believe it! You see lots of 5 gallon Sparklets bottles, but they are refilled from a local faucet that may be considered "safe", trust us! This is a relatively modern country, but the plumbing is substandard. The water and power in Tijuana is provided by San Diego, I'm not sure about Juarez, if they get power from El Paso, but I wouldn't bet against it.

There is the All American Canal that has an earth bottom and which seeps into the ground water, and everybody knows that this is American ground water but Mexico illegally pumps it and they even know how much they are stealing, and I'm sure they will pay for it eventually. They have modern highways costing billions that are primarily used by foreigners that pay the toll, while poor Mexicans use the back roads because they can't/or won't pay to use the paved roads. And yet, the average "Peon" is fiercely loyal proud and patriotic. And, for the most part, are okay with getting fucked over by the government and a very few privileged people who actually own everything. 100-200 years from now, nothing will have changed, and they people are content to put up with their system, or migrate to the US, which is a huge drain on the national wealth and "Intelligencia". I'm pretty sure that income from Mexicans sending back funds via Western Union to relatives in Mexico is probably the #2 source of income, and I don't know what is #1? So, poor people go to the U.S. find work or maybe live off some type of assistance, and still are able to send a substantial portion of their income back to relatives in Mexico. Everybody is just fine with this. Actually, Mexico needs another, "more bloody" revolution. It's a rotten system, but they get FREE HEALTHCARE....such as it is. Mexicans are very proud people, the pinnacle, and superior of all Latin Americans. It's a little weird, but Mexicans are kind of a MASTER RACE in all of Latin America.

OK end of rant!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: Whoa! Wait a minute! You are not fighting off Indians? What happened, who won? Do you have casinos everywhere? We do here. They have really hit the jackpot! It's a fucking license to steal!

This doesn't feel like winning, unless it means paying reparations in perpetuity.

Gambling, being a tax on people who can't do math, is reparations in perpetuity.
But ............ it's a tax that you don't have to pay if you don't want to so it's kinda win - win.

I'm a voracious reader. I got three in the mail yesterday, one a history of Red Cloud, second a complete history of WWI and another Injun biography, I think it will be kinda like Comanche Moon, will see? I have three going right now, Relentless (Gray Man#9) Encyclopedia of arrowheads and artifacts, and a history of Liver Eater Johnson, on which the movie Jeremiah Johnson was based. I'm on the last chapter of Relentless and then will start the last in the series, RED METAL. I have 2 or 3 still on the way, mostly historical, one about Ireland Rebels, pre colonial.

I missed yesterday's defeat by Netherlands, but I have been trying to get interested in soccer, half heartedly and it's not working. But who gives a shit about England/Senegal? Somebody needs to explain this bullshit where the game doesn't end and they allow "extra time"? Also, every 10 minutes, there is an Academy Award major injury, after which, the injured player gets up and trots off the field under his own power, or more likely, continues to play. (this will never catch on!)

I'm down to one girlfriend but her phone is messed up! If you know a lonely widow, let me know!

I've been told that Sun City West in Phoenix is a target rich environment full of lonely wealthy widows looking for handsome male arm-candy.

In fact, I not only have a cute kissing cousin, living in Sun City, but my old flame Betty Ann, a ten if there ever was one, also lives in Sun City! They bump into each other occasionally, but Betty Ann claims we are just friends. Yeah right!

Then Judy has moved to Mesa, and I haven't even heard from her but once since she moved. Seems very dormant if you ask me? Maybe remember her from the gondola ride after dinner in the lagoon with the Paul Melching's at the Hyatt Scottsdale. Judy is celibate, BTW.

But, I think Sun City has to be a target rich environment?
