I am reading a book titled "Paradise of the Blind". It is banned in Vietnam and is the first book from Vietnam ever to be published in the USA. It takes place in North Vietnam shortly after the takeover by the communists; and the author Houng, writes about how they destroyed lives. The family being written about ends up being at war with itself. The communists went after landowners and anyone involved in any type of capitalistic enterprise. The set up courts chaired by illiterate peasants judging the evil capitalists. Many of the land owners only had an acre or two of land to work. Capitalist peons that live in slums are shamed for selling goods from push carts. All of the above classes are forced to go through public shaming where the beg forgiveness for being evil capitalists. They are forced into poverty and starvation. Predictably the communist land reform ends up being a big mistake and they try to correct their mistake when starvation is the norm for many.
Every time a government evolves into communism the leaders always say they won't make the same mistakes as the other countries made in the past. However, every time history repeats itself.
Today in the USA we have the democrats singing systemic racism. If we ever head down the communist path, I predict we will have courts with Black jurors judging whites, jews and Asians. The jurors will be appointed by the likes of Lori Lightfoot. May God Help us if this happens.
