Anyone close to the Carr fire? That is a nasty one.
Have 3 close to me. MM73/hwy55 fire it is a done deal. Keithly fire to my NW it's close to being controlled. Meas Fire to my north. It's still running and nasty looking. I'm smoked in this morning. I've got about a mile of visibility. Yesterday totally smoked in until mid day.
Grassy Ridge fire in eastern Idaho. Started NW of St. Anthony and has ran to the NNW they evacuated the whole town of Dubois Idaho last night.
Our district is finishing up the containment lines on the Cat fire out of Rolland Idaho. We've have had several in the last 3 weeks down there due to lightning.
The thing that bothers me is not being able to see on the weekend when the world is out to recreate (to death) and what they can get up to. As in setting fires by choice or accident. Nothing like using braille to find fires. I watch as many webcams as I can on days like this to see how much traffic is out and if there is fires in the area.
Stay safe out there and hope for rain and cool temps

Back in June I was scared to death things were so dry! Then came the monsoon we have been blessed with lots of rain I cant get some jobs done but I don't care would rather have the rain than the money. I have often wondered if terrorists start these fires easy way to destroy much and suck up resources !

Well, I think that has some merit. No doubt, the authorities claim that the majority of the forest fires are caused by lightning. When they can determine a cause.
But, I believe firebugs start a lot more than they are given credit for. And they get away with it, more often than not. My attitude; git a rope!
Good hunting. El Bee
PS I admit, some fires are needed and necessary....and unavoidable.

We have one fire up by Cascade and it was started on a boat launch ramp area in 2 different spots. Know damn well it was intentional. Mesa was a flat tire down to rim. MM73 isn't known yet but just about bet a tire or trailer chains dragging. It is in the same place the guy started the fire driving on a flat tire in a motorhome and wouldn't pull over even with people trying to flag him down and get him stopped. To steep of country along that stretch of road and to much grass along side the road.
Totally smoked back in and can't see beyond a mile so don't know what the Mesa fire is doing. Just choking on the smoke. Feels hotter and drier today already.

Smoke hasn't been to bad around here. Compared to the last 10-15 years.
I know for sure humans start many fires. I still wonder about how many are ignited ? by other means ? send out the linchin' mob. I don't give a fuck.
I'm almost numb to gawd damn fire season.
I thought it was supposed to be summer ? who invented fire season anyway ?
Yeah, I know more people around & about. I'm not convinced. [ July 29, 2018, 11:31 AM: Message edited by: Dave Allen ]

Smoked in again or always? Winds blow at night usually from the north pushing more smoke in by daylight. Had a east south east wind most of the night. Was hoping when I got up it'd be somewhat clear out. I know I'm dreaming big time. 100's temps for the next couple days.

Driving the interstate between needles and Barstow we came on this cholo guy in black Monte Carlo. There was a wide paved shoulder and he was cruising along far to the right. He had no tires at all, just the rims and doing a pretty good clip maybe 60 when everybody else was doing at least 75 but paying no attention at all to the stares. If he was looking for a service station, he had a long way to go. Yes, sparks flying. Those wheels must have been hot enough to lite a cigarette on them.
Good hunting. El Bee 🐝
edit: Oh yeah I forgot something. You know those grooves they put on the shoulder of the pavement that makes a loud noise when you drift over and alerts you to keep you from falling asleep and driving off into Thelma and Louise oblivion? That's where this guy was running and the passenger side was a lot more sparky. Wonder how far he made it? Or if CHP pulled him over? [ July 31, 2018, 05:32 AM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

Rabbit Foot fire just 8,000 acres yesterday now at 23,000 and growing.
Smoke smell today smells like trash again. Don't have any visibility at all.
I called it quits shut the door and windows and turned the AC on. It feels like it's just baking/broiling out there and it isn't all that hot yet. Guess it's just the way it feels right now.
