Anybody know if a chronograph will work under led shop lights ???
I have a modest shooting set-up (archery) in my shop but haven't been able to use the chronograph under the fluorescent lighting. Thinking of switching out the lights to led. Spendy but no more flickering bulbs !!
Thanx !!!!!!

First, I don't know? But what kind of Chronograph? Does it have sky screens? I think mine would work. It's an Ohler 35P. The only thing that confuses it sometimes is highly polished bullets, (Noslers) and an overcast sky. I assume you are talking about arrows?

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: but whenever it has a rare problem, you don't get the proof channel because there are three screens. But, you still get a reading.

It's a low dollar 'Chrony'.
Works fine for arrows outdoors but I would like to set it up in the shop and do some comparing bows & arrow sizes, etc.

Speaking of SOLAR.

In a moment of weakness, I signed up for solar because it would be no cost out of pocket, just pay the company every month for what I use. I liked the idea of no cost, and that part has been the truth. Hell, they even upgraded my service panel for nothing.

The cells have been on my roof since mid May of last year and it's never been turned on. It is the slowest process imaginable. In fact, I got an email this morning about some appointment the want to schedule. But this is ridiculous!

It seems that the company is known for lack of coordination, at least according to my city inspector. His words were; the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing?

I'm really pissed off about the whole deal at this point. The claim is that my electricity bill will be a little more than 60% of what I have been paying Edison. Plus, I will still have to pay Edison for a baseline rate. Two bills but, I save 40%.

Okay, let's get the damned show on the road!

Oh, and there will be a covenant that goes with the house on the property taxes. And, i can purchase the system after 20 years. I really don't quite get the angle but as long as I save anything, and as long as I don't have to spend a dime on the equipment, I'm satisfied. I'm just pissed off at the dragged out process.

Knowing how chrony's work, they use a photocell much like leonards solar panels. When the bullet passes through the screens it cast a shadow on the photo cell causing the output voltage of the photo cell to drop slightly for fraction of a second. The Chrony's electronic box looks at the length of time it takes for your bullet to pass over both screens to calculate feet per second. Your fluorescent light are causing a constant drop and return to normal voltage 60 times a second confusing the chrony. Let us know if the leds work.

Yes, I'm pretty sure you are correct, Paul. But, it doesn't worry me too much because, while I personally am very lukewarm on solar, I think with a lot of potential buyers, it will be a positive selling point. It's like the pool, some want it and some don't. There is no doubt it's expensive and people with kids would be more interested. You can't please everybody. Here's an expression I hate: It is what it is.
