Count me in.
Although, they have sure managed to pussify the Fourth of July since I was a kid.
Starting as soon as it was daylight, the explosions started. We had Peony firecrackers, smuggled from South Dakota and a few cherry bombs. We also had caps, as in cap guns. We bought them by the roll and used Dad's sledge hammer on the curb. Also had these little "bombs" that you could load with a single cap, the square perforated kind. Unscrew the bomb and insert the cap, throw it as high as you could and let it come down in the street/ BLAM!
I think my hearing turned bad probably when I was about nine years old, exactly because of the Fourth of July. Ear plugs? What's that?
Then, of course, boys being boys, we would go to the lake, catch a carp pr bullhead and stick a cherry bomb in it's mouth; great fun?
This stuff went on all friggin' day and at dark, we all went to Powder Horn Park, not far away. It was kind of unique because they set the fireworks out on the island in the middle of the lake. There were lots of places with embankments where we laid on blankets to watch the display. I just thought of something? Somehow, I never fished that lake, just every single other one for miles in any direction, including rivers and creeks.
I had freedom probably unheard of, these days, where they arrest the parents and take the kids away if you allow them to walk home from school! What kind of bullshit is that?
Happy EMASCULATED Fourth of July, people. By this time next year, they may outlaw "actual" fireworks. Instead, we might get a really cool "App" for the smart phone. And, President Clinton will assure us that it's better than the real thing, AND SAFER!

Hopefully everyone is having a safe 4'th today. I purposely left the radio & tv off just in case those mutha fucking ahab the arab isis and all of the peaceful rag headed new Americans didn't disrupt OUR Day of Independence & the piece of shit hnic wasn't on the tv assuring everyone that muzscum is a religion of peace.
