Found my first Rattler this year........on the patio. A little guy about two foot long.
Introduced it to my snake hook and a trash can.
Released it out away from the property in the wash behind us.
When I got back, I checked my reference book and sure enough, it was definitely a Mojave Green. A good looking creature, if somewhat nasty in the venom department.
Hopefully he won't be back.

Instead of hoping the snake won't be back, why not make sure it won't be back?

No offense meant in any sort of way, just trying to understand the why of releasing it alive.

Same here, Im not very tolerant of rattlers, especially those kind. Off with their heads!

Fair question.

I kinda understand. I one time decided to do something I thought would be cool, catch a rattler with my bare hands. He wasn't very big and it was easier than I thought, however.

Upon reflection, I think it was stupid and then; I let him go, some might say, also stupid?

I'm a little indifferent, sometimes I kill the sonofabitch and sometimes I just walk around 'em.

But, if it was on my porch, he won't get relocated, but then again, I'm no Zen Master....

Good hunting. El Bee

PS seems kinda late in the season for a firster?

edit: YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN? Lonny and Lone Howl, sitting in a tree,

I dunno............
I have a jar full of rattles, I didn't need a skin for anything & wasn't hungry for snake, so it just seemed like the thing to do.
