I know viewership is down here (along with most forums) but really, are you fellas slowing down hunting/shooting?
I sure have the past few years.
Still bowhunt with much vigor but my coyote killn has waned.
Used to be much funner traveling out of state, killing a bunch and getting rewarded by selling pelts. Fur $ are shit now.
Even my local coyotes are getting a break. Just can't justify 100.00$ a tank of gas, hard to find reloading stuff, and really, just slowed down my desire.

I hunt "up north" and just don't like snowshoes anymore. Used to damn near live in them during winter.
The way things are going, at the pace Im at now, I think I have enuff powder/cases n primers to last me 20 years.(I'm 58).
Seldom any discussion/stories here about hunting/shooting.
You fellas quit or slowing down and why?
LB, when is the last time you hunted/killed a coyote?
Last year I only killed about 30. Best year was 164.

Even if the days of 100.00 coyotes came back, I'm afraid my "drive" just ain't there anymore to go balls to the walls.
Didn't think that would happen.

Oh, and the very best coyote killn rifles I have are 2 .17_.204's
Pure coyote killn machines out to 400 yard's.

That should give LB the vapors!

In all honesty, I haven’t killed a coyote in two years since I had intestinal surgery. I’ve been anemic where my hemaglobin was down at 7 and looking at transfusions. Didn’t happen and I’m doing a lot better….until I broke my foot! But I’m not hanging it up, I’m itching to get out and kill something.

Good hunting. El Bee 🐝

PETA should name that Bumbling Buffoon Biden as their Man of the Year. Hard to justify scouting or hunting trips @ $5.00 a gal.
Definitely less 'drive'............ Both from the cost of gas and nothing to prove to anybody.
All of my coyote hunting for the past several years has been with the bow. Getting a shot is a win and actually getting one is a trophy.
Big game is strictly with the recurve and the philosophy 'Never pass up on the first day what you'd settle for on the last'.
I still enjoy bowfishing but again @ $5.00 a gal. ...
3D archery tournaments are a blast but the target shooters are taking it over and it's tough to compete with a hunting bow. Roving the local sand washes with blunts is still a great way to spend a morning.
So, yeah ....... Have slowed down a bit but the heart's still in it.

[Razz] And the best coyote rifle is a scoped .223 Mini-14 with the stock painted black just to piss the liberals off. [Razz]

Where can I get this $5 a gallon gas of which you speak? Two days ago at Costco the line wound through the parking lot, didn't count them but I'd say conservatively, at least 50 vehicles, but I scored a tank full! @$6.59

But yes, thanks to that bumbling idiot Biden and his catering to the "Environmental's" and Newsome jacking the state tax, who wants to drive anywhere?

I say this with sincerity; BREAK OUT THE GUILLOTINES! Roll that bastard out in an Ox Cart like in the good old days of the French Revolution! Those folks did not take a joke; it's OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! Buitagig next, please! His offense? "Be like me and have your husband buy you an electric vehicle!"

Good hunting. El Bee

Gas here runs $4.97 / $4.99. No lines.

Speaking of burning gas, though;
Here in the Gila Valley and around Mt. Graham we see a LOT of military jets training. Totally cool but this morning there were two that got into that 'circle of death' thing. Cool factor off of the charts. [Cool] [Cool] [Cool]

I always think, Wow! Made my day when I see stuff flying. I've been scared shitless sitting on a stand and a fucking A7 comes up behind me.

Or early morning driving very close to Area 51 and get buzzed by an F16 at treetop level. Or sneaking into Barry Goldwater and watching them drop bombs and hope that, yeah, they must see us, don't they? Or a couple times it was Warthogs out of Davis whatever it's called. Also, just sitting in the landing pattern just west of Phoenix and watching them come in for a landing. Also, and only during the week, not weekends, out at China Lake, that's awesome to watch those MF drill down Owens Valley. Also in northern Nevada, Navy dudes out of Fallon, pulling some fast shit over the Loneliest Highway in America-US50. Oh yeah, the time I saw B1's up in extreme northwestern Utah, following fucking terrain, or have the fucking B2 taking off from St George right over our heads while driving up 395. I saw the C130's doing some weird shit over by ko ko's digs, looked like that Dragon Ship. We weren't close enough to get a good look, but it went on all morning, and the hunting went south. Same thing down on the Rez, when they started bombing on Barry Goldwater. That's it, no more hunting, the coyotes went to ground, come back tomorrow! Good times. Bro!

Good hunting. El Bee

PS this chick is AWESOME! I'm in love!

Last time I was after coyotes was 4 years ago to collect sound for FP.
I manage to get to Texas a couple times a year to shoot hogs fish and drink whiskey.
Hogs are fun for me these days. Early June I took my old Marlin lever since I haven't shot it in 25+ years. Took a box of ammo and a backup rifle. Shot 2 with the Guide gun and then resorted to fishing. Then on to thinning out turtles.
Have 3 Angus on a friend's ranch. Sold the bull and still have 2 cows with one breeding.
Not coyote hunting but it's a diversion.
Night hunting plays he'll on cataracts. Going to get that taken care of this next year. Other than that I've become a hermit.
Sold some Bullseye to a friend who gladly gave me $60. The price label on the can was $8,95.

Understanding the coyote is not as important as knowing where they are.
I usually let the fur prime up before I leave 'em lay.
