Well I spent most of the long weekend working on the truck getting ready for trapping season. The day was coming to and end and figured I had enough time for one quick stand. So grab my gear and the dog and off we went. Set up quickly and a few minutes in her comes a double. The dog sees them and let's them come. They check up about 60 yards and I shoot the first one. The remaining coyote is and starts to check up bit the dog is on his way. The coyote runs out about 175 yards and stops to look Trapper is now about 75 yards out and looking at the coyote. I play coyote wimpers and here she comes back. The coyote tries to work the wind but at 125 she stops and I shoot her. I think wow this happened fast. Look down at the remote and timie is 5:37. I think its early might as well wait and see. So I turn the volume up for 20 seconds and back down to were it was at. I'm thinking this a pretty good end to the day when I see a second double coming. I get ready and Trapper sees them and let's them come. At 50 yards the front coyote stops. At the shot of the rifle the bullet report come back and I see him ccrumple in the scope. The second coyote heads out and wastes no time leaving. I throw a female coyote howl out and he checks up. He pushing 200 yards. I put the cross hairs in the center of him and send it. The report back tells it all. Number 4 is on the ground. I smile and think what a way to end the day. Time 10:43 seconds. Brent

Heck, that's a good way to end a day, start a day, mark the middle of a day, interrupt a day, spend a day, that's just too much fun!

I dont care how many stands , how many dead coyotes, a quad is still exciting.
When it dont, I'll probably quit.
Good hunting. Lb

Good job buddy, I always enjoy that sound, the meat report. I especially like it when they fall down right away.
Still waiting on my first quad.

Guys it was a great stand. These coyotes had been harassing my dogs for several months. I saw they had left there calling card in the driveway and thought enough was enough. It just happened I had just enough time Sunday evening. [ December 28, 2015, 07:37 PM: Message edited by: Brent Parker ]

The coyotes have been active, that's for sure. Had my son-in-law down, then a partner down deer hunting. Made a total of 12 casual stands over four mornings, between 7-10am, called 28 coyotes, lots of multiples, 4 on one stand, 5 on another and several triples. Been a good year; about time.

It HAS been a very good year that way. I think I'm actually pretty much done now, snow has me closed out of all the places I like to go. But I can't remember a better year for multiples and days with very few dry stands. Had a couple days this year with ten or more killed, another with eight and a few six or seven coyote days. 82 coyotes carried back to the truck from Oct. through the first week of Dec.
Banner year! While it lasted...

Very cool !!
I kinda like the idea of a "ghillie" suit ? That way I could remove and go indescrete (sp) ? between going to and from hunting. [ December 29, 2015, 08:48 PM: Message edited by: Dave Allen ]

That is not a 'quick stand', that is a dream stand!

Definitely one to remember. Have a triple, but no quad. Maybe someday. Dread the thought of carrying them all out. LOL
Anyone else ever notice how those last minute, if-I-hurry-I-can-get-one-stand-in impromptu hunts tend to produce more often and better than the ones you actually have time to plan for? Or, is it just me?
