Does Steve still come here? I just watched him on a HS show on the TV. I understand the fist pumps and excitement and jubilation after a kill, but What's up with the "Fried Cheeecken"? [Smile]

BTW, nice haircut.

You are referring to "UNKNOWN", I assume? He attended one of the campouts and I remember him proudly holding up half a coyote's tail, which was the only thing he hit, that weekend.

He wasn't hunting with me or AR, I think he was hunting with Higgins that day. I do think he was shooting his AR that Danny Cheatam built him though. My guess is he miss judged the lead as he was 'walking the shots' in. LOL

But, the gent just out of the photo does look a bit like AR?

But, say? Didn't he ride with you guys and TA ....and you'uns kept putting poor old TA in the crummy spot downwind?

Nope, the guy just barely in the pic is me, and it was the next year that Tim rode along with Randy and Patrick(Pilgrim). Steve met me at my house and we met up with them in NM. And yes, Tim kept drawing the short straw and landing in the down wind spot. LOL

Umm? He knows because that was the biggest gossip item in camp! Everybody knew you were complaining about where you were being positioned, yet they thought they were doing you a favor?

Well, we can all laugh about it now; right, Mr Coyote? [Smile]

Hell, no one will call when hunting around me, leaving me to do the screaming, and I always have to give the sniper job to someone else. What's to complain about?!?

You can have youre down wind positions, I'll take the one sitting next to the caller..

On that trip we did'nt have very many come from the down wind side. Whats his name did shoot a down wind coyote that I called in from down wind to start with.. Can't prove it but I say it was the same one Steve missed on the stand before as it came from the same corn field it ran into...
Other than a badd knee what really sucked was driveing all those miles and when we did get into them and they proved to be a little difficult the others would pack it up and move down the road to empty stands..
The rule at the time was keep the stands to 15 minutes then pack up.. There were coyotes out there but who ever was doing the calling at the time was'nt getting them in. So on a few stands when we reached the 15 min. mark I gave a few howls on my howler and brought two different coyotes in on seperate stands..
I went on that trip to kill coyotes ! Not watch someone polish there ego..
I did learn a few things on that trip. Always drive youre own vehicle and leave the kids at home.. [Smile]

I more than paid my way...

Edit to add. When we stayed in a hotel the guy who slept in a roll-away got a discount, the guy that road in the back seat of a clubcab did'nt..Hmmm

To make room in the truck I had to have my 4000.00 worth of guns ride in the back of the truck bed, the guy with the 400.00 rifle did'nt... Hell I even had to pay for part of Geordies gas and I did'nt even ride in his truck and when at camp I had to borrow a truck from one of the trappers that was in camp just so I could go to town.. The only ones I'm greatfull to are Leonard for haveing the campout and the trapper than let me use his truck...

We took a young hunter out over in Vic's stomping grounds a few years back. We kept putting him in the down wind spot, trying to get him his first coyote.

On one stand he protested and I quickly offered to trade spots with him. I called in and killed a nice Bobcat about 100 yards in front of him. He didn't see it, but I did.

Tim, only the people who rode in my truck helped me with gas. That would be Patrick and Steve. What you had to help pay was motel rooms that were put on credit cards. I had to pay up also, I saw the figures on paper, and they seemed fine to me. Besides, you refused to buy a hunting license in N.M., so you should of had plenty of money left over after the trip.

Tim, The first day in N.M., you killed your first coyote with your new 17pred, and you shot it out the window of Randy's truck! Obviously it wasn't in the back.

Well Shaw told me at the time I settled up with him he was pooling all the gas together..
Do you have a copy of the figures? And how many times did I pay for gas with my credit card..
As for the Lic. I did'nt have a choice since Shaw was driveing now did I...
As for the coyote there were two guns pointed out the window, I just happen to be a little faster than the kid..
When we were'nt hunting my guns were in the back to make a little room. I asked one of the kids if he could put his back there as well so I could stretch my leg. His reply was no cause he was affraid someone would steal his 400.00 gun..
I've never seen anyone jump in the back of a pick-up truck going 70 MPH to steal a gun, Have you??

Nope, wasn't a big deal at the time.

quote:

I have no idea. As I stated and you admitted, you never rode with me. As I said previously, the 'settling up' involved motel bills.

Everyone else had one Tim. Patrick and Steve weren't driving either.

Well hell Tim, thats your most practiced shot! Besides, the POINT was, your rifle was in the CAB!!!
