I've been watching the news concerning the Measles shot. ohbamama has been uuhhhh uuhhhh telling everyone how safe it is and most on Fox News have the same opinion, even the tub in jersey (Christie) has changed his mind and encourages everyone to comply. What are they saying in your areas? Personally I don't get the flu shots, and will refuse the measles vaccination.

I'm sure I had measles when I was a kid. I could be wrong but I don't think you can get it again?

As far as the flu shots, I refuse those but they sure are persistent, ask me about it every time I'm in there, for any reason. My reason, and I could be wrong about this, as well, but they say there is a very small percentage of people that die from the vaccine. They also say that there are people that die of flu. They are also saying that this particular strain is not responding well to the inoculation? Or, maybe I should say, the shot , turns out, isn't very effective.

Anyway, if I had kids in school, exposed to "undocumented" and unwashed, from third world places that have no immunizations, even polio, then I think it's smart to have them get their shots.

I think it's fine to hold these public health officials accountable. I think they will lie, regardless of which political party is in power. You know, the older I get, the less I trust our government.

I had the measles, mumps, and chicken pox as a kid. The super-genius guys on the radio say if you have had it, you can't get it again. Though if vaccinated and didn't have it, you may need to get revaccinated.

One thing that bothers me about flu shots is so many doctors and nurses/medical staff refuse to get the flu vaccine. What do they know about it that we don't, if it is so important and safe, why do they choose not to get it?

I'm the same as Dan. I remember chickenpox being something my mother actually searched for. When she found some other kid who had it, we went right over for a visit. Seems like I remember having to provide vaccination records when kids enrolled in school. You had to have some. Can't remember which ones, but if you couldn't provide the proper documentation, you didn't go to school, period. Guess that little caveat has been done away with except in certain states, where surprisingly, they have the fewest instances of vaccinable diseases. Go figure.

Years ago, probably sometime in the mid 60's there was a German Measles outbreak from coast to coast. I vividly remember a friends parents loaded up their kids to get the vaccination. At the time the mother was pregnant but didn't know it or the fact was ignored? Regardless their son was born mildly retarded, soon the link was established that the German Measles vaccination was responsible for appx. 100,000 birth defects, that was basically called a "MINOR MISTAKE"! I don't trust these CDC idiots anymore than I think ohbamama and his clueless cast of idiots have any idea what they are talking about. Point being guys, if you have children don't ask, demand a written explanation of what's in the shots and it's side effects.

Yeah, the local news which, I rarely watch. Made a big deal about the "outbreak" of measles last night.

Dunno boys it seems like another propaganda scheme by the media. What ever happened to Ebola ?

Anyway not down with the whole flu shot thing myself. Kinda interesting @ work for two winters they used to bring people in to give us free flu shots.

Out of about 40-45 employees, only 4-5 would get it. So they quit doing that last winter.

What's that tell ya ?

OK, here's another little side bar. Pertussis, Whooping Cough, ever had it? I never even knew there was a vaccination for it. To my knowledge, this was a scourge that was eradicated during my youth. Kinda like smallpox during Leonard's, lol.

Turns out it WAS pretty much eradicated in the United States, other places, not so much. Along about Fathers Day last year I began to develop a dry, persistent cough. Thought the Marlboro Man had finally caught up with me. Odd thing was, there was no phlegm, no blood, no nothing. Just a disabling, projectile vomiting causing cough. I diagnosed it through Web MD, and sure enough, it played out as Whooping Cough. I'm an adult with my best years behind me, but believe this when I tell you, I would have taken a vaccination before enduring the fun associated with that one, and I urge everyone who reads this to trot down to the pharmacy, and get one, if you haven't in the last 10 years, or had it over the same time period.

The locale I live in, and the folks I associate with in my line of work contributed to my contracting it, I'm sure. Bottom line, we're being exposed to shit we haven't seen or worried about in years.

Pertussis is extremely contagious right after contracting it. Probably won't even know what you have yet. But if you have babies that you associate with, and you pass it to them, very bad news. Infant mortality is high.

6 months down the road and my back finally started feeling better, then I fell and cracked a rib. Did somebody say getting old ain't for pussies?

TV is filled with commercials by legit law firms seeking to represent those who suffered ill effects from a drug that helped all but a few percent who used it. Do your due diligence, but don't disregard.

When you came down to my tent and kissed me good night, why didn't you tell me you had whooping cough? Sheesh!

It's only contagious for a short period of time. I didn't miss any time from work and never passed it on to a soul there, or anyone else I know of. You were in no danger by that time. Sitting quietly through a stand was a bit rough at times, though.

We have had an outbreak here in Central Kansas of whooping cough. Unfortunately, we just buried a little 6 week old baby last week that got whooping cough. They start the vaccination at 8 weeks on babies.

They say you can't get shingles more than once, but I have had them twice. I don't get the flu shot anymore as I had more damn colds after I got the shot than when I didn't.

Anyway, the damn shot this year doesn't even vaccinate you against the nastiest strain of influenza.

I have had guys I trust in healthcare on both sides of the vaccination issue...one says that some shots can cause autism, and the other poo-poos the notion.

I can say that this is the first year I haven't had a cold or sinus infection. I have a customer that has bee hives and collects his own honey. I pay $6 a pound for his raw honey and take two tablespoons a day and have dodged the cold bug. Damn sight cheaper than antibiotics!

I would hate to live anyplace near where those Central American pigs came across the border. Truth be told most of the damn outbreaks of shit in the US can probably be traced back to them.

I don't think there is much doubt of that. Bugs that we haven't seen here for generations, suddenly, (and within the last six years) we have these diseases.

So, on that note, sounds like immunizations are a preventative measure? On the other hand, when these fucking NAZI's start talking MANDATORY, you can include me out.

I don't know about kids getting shots before being enrolled in school, seems like they got ya coming or going?

I do not believe the official version about autism. Maybe there is something to it and maybe not. But the government has done nothing to give me confidence in their assurances. It's no damned wonder DHS thinks the TEA Party types need to be watched carefully!

For a long time, I have not felt like a preferred citizen. The more ethnic types, the merrier. But, you know what? If those people, left to their own devices, in their indigenous country, then those countries would be the "WORLD BEATERS". But, they come here, and not even talking about the rag heads, but what kind of country will we have in another fifty years?

What I'm saying is, we built this country and Liberals like Obama want to tear it down and lower standards all over the map. How will these policies benefit ANYBODY?

Liberalism is a goddamned mental illness. I don't see how we can turn it around without another Reagan? But, we need help, or this won't turn out well. We might me a minority, but we could make a hell of a dent in their version of Utopia, if they push us far enough.

Can anyone imagine the amount of money that changes hands over these "necessary" inoculations? Just pretend that the top 100 polyticians each get one dollar per shot, then the next most important a'holes get 50 cents per, then the next 100 gets a quarter etc. etc. all the way down to junior representatives only getting a lousy dime for pimping the necessity of the shots "for the good of the children". Remember one thing, no one (other than us paranoid old men) have mentioned the possibility of the new American's bringing this shit here. I tried doing the math on my genuine iPhone calculator and I think, if I counted all the zeros correctly "they" only recd. about *xx mil $ total*.
*I only guessed the total because we all know the number of crooks in dc is infinity.

I think this has been going on for a while. I started grade school during the fall of '67. If I remember right, we were given shots right in the school cafeteria. I think there was a note sent home informing our parents of the fact and then we were marched through an assembly line. I don't think our parents had an 'opt out' decision to make.

I am darn sure we got the smallpox vaccine there? Whichever one it was that made a circular scar on your upper left arm--still can see the scar on my arm.

So, is the smallpox vaccine that we got in grade school still good for the terrorist version of smallpox that I keep hearing about or are we all gonna die ??
