Here is our new baby boy. Kinring Bradford. Born 1:33 am. 6lbs - 3oz, 18-3/4". He came a few weeks early, and my wife had a difficult pregnancy, but they're doing well.
I get funny looks about his name all the time. Hopefully you Louis Lamour fans recognize the name. In the Sackett novels, Kinring is the first Sackett born in the new world. Here is the passage that stuck out to me when I read the book, "...the first of my name to be born in the new land, a son who would know no civilization, but only the wilds. He would grow up on woodland paths, riding rough water in a canoe down lonely streams and hunting his own meat in the wilderness. Looking about me I knew I could wish no better life for any man than that I was giving to him. A lonely life, but a wild, free life..."
Although the world is a much different place I will still raise him to love the outdoors, love his country, honor his family, and be a man who follows God. My line of the Bradford family traces back to the Mayflower, so I always felt a connection to the early Sackett novels. I figured all of you outdoorsman would like this.

Heck, tl, my kids' names are Dalian and Tabor, so no Johnnies here. Met a woman named McCartney (first name) last week and thought what a great name that is. Kinrick is unique and I like it. Good looking kid you have there, too. Congratulations.

Congratulations, that's a great name and good looking baby. I'm happy everything worked out good for the early pregnancy for both him and your wife.

Congratulations, tl. Fine looking son.
You know, (Kirk Douglas pause) I read every Louis Lamour novel ever wrote, until the Sackets. They are great, but for some reason I couldn't get into the Sackets? I don't think I finished the first one. There were a couple I should reread, it's been 25 years or so?
Good hunting. LB
PS anybody ever tell you how much it's going to cost to raise that boy? Just kidding, but guess what? It never stops. And, I mean never.

You ought to enlarge that pic and frame it. It has what is important in focus, everything else just kinda fades away...
Congrats!

Thank you all. I was a little worried that being a little early, and for my wife having such a difficult pregnancy, he may have to spend some time in the hospital. We feel blessed that his health is good and we get to go home tomorrow.
Leonard, the first few Sackett novels he uses an old english style of writing to go along with the time period. If you start at book 4, they read like the rest of his westerns.
Randy, When I went home last night to tuck my 4 and 2 year old girls into bed, they seemed huge. You never remember how tiny they can be.
