I have been in the habit of browsing the ammo departments, Walmart and BassProShops lately.

Consequently, I have been walking out with a few boxes, stocking up. Prior, I have mainly recycled if I bought factory stuff, and I'm talking handgun, not rifle because I never buy rifle ammunition, just cases and then handload.

To get to the point, I saw some Russian ammo in 45ACP and it was cheap enough, a few cents under $16 per box of 50. All pretty standard, 230gr. FMJ non corrosive, boxer primed. The only thing different is the steel case.

I only bought 100 but the question is: has anybody tried resizing these cases? I never throw brass, always reload/recycle them. But, never any steel cases.

I wonder about springback, etc and getting the case mouth just right for chambering and headspacing; might be tricky? And, what will they do to my chamber?

Anybody?

Good hunting. El Bee

Almost positive it's Berdan primed like most all Russian & Chicom steel cased ammo. I don't trust their claims of non corrosive primers, re: 7.62x39 steel case is very corrosive but "Wolf" (brand) labels the box's "Non Corrosive" .
Try some Sellier&Bellot brand , I use it in 380, 9mm & 45 , boxer primed brass & non corrosive. SGammo stocks S&B 230gr FMJ 45 for 18$ per 50

I understand. But, this is Walmart selling this stuff. If the box says BOXER PRIMED and it's not, then my bitch is just as much with Walmart as with the Russians.

I mean, at some point, you take some statements on faith, non corrosive, for instance, if it's not, that can ruin a bore.

Has it come to this? You can't believe important information printed on the friggin' box?

It looks well made, packaging, everything seems up to reasonable standards? I mean, I have seen steel cases at the range, laying in the dirt, and they sure as hell do rust!

Ok, good hunting. El Bee

edit: come to think of it....A while ago, I picked up a quantity of military 45 shot shells. It looks every bit like WWII vintage. Now, I'm wondering if it's mercury primed?
