I am snowed in and bored. So...who can guess the weight of this cat? It was struck and killed by a car here in north jersey last fall. I know you guys are disappointed I didn't shoot it with a Glock pistol behind my house.
That's not me in the pic by the way.

Any outdoorsman worth his salt can see that is a 42,000 BTU bbq grill in the background and the guy is standing next to standard 8x8x16" concrete blocks. This helps the experienced hunter extrapolate the cat's weight to not an ounce under 30 lbs and not a pound over 40....
The nervous look on the constable's face also shows the cat was shot by him 449 feet from a dwelling with a shotgun....

Lonny has skills and a well trained & calibrated eye, I can tell.
That looks to be a 37.8 pound Bobcat, well fed with chunky Skippy and day old coffee beans.
Does the winner get a Glock or Shotgun? When will the raffle be held and will Leonard throw in the HM T-shirts?

wonder why that cat is so orange up there? Looks like an old Red River bootom cat that I get around here from time to time.
It looks like a real good one. 27.89 lbs.
PS - Lonny you are the man.

I don't know why they are orange here, Kelly.
I called one in once (we are not allowed to shoot them in NJ) and I couldn't see any spots on it. It came in to about 12 yards, though the light was dim and the cat appeared to be a solid brown color. [ February 25, 2010, 06:40 PM: Message edited by: 4949shooter ]

Delicioso...
Actually, Fish and Game took it for study purposes. We don't have a whole lot of cats here, hence no season on them.

The cop is 4feet 9inches. That puts the cat at about 24 pounds.

Without the primer, base coat paint, hardener, clear coat, ext. and minus the blood loss; I'd guess 30 to 32lbs.

4949, When are you going to be releasing the weight and list of winners? If first place wants the Glock, I'll take the sawed off Riot Scattergun. Oh, and I'll take an autographed HM T-shirt too, hold the Skippy.

Well...luckyjack takes first place with the exact guess at 24 pounds.
tawnoper takes a close second with his guess at 24 to 25 pounds.
The guy in the picture stepped on the scale with the cat, then stepped off the scale and handed the cat off to someone else. When he got back on the scale, the difference was 24 pounds. Fish and Game said it was a young male.
Here are some more pics:
It had me fooled. From the looks of the haunches I thought for sure it weighed closer to 34 pounds.
Anyhoo, first place winner gets a 3/4 full bottle of Aunt Jemima syrup.
Second place winner gets a 2005 "Get out of Jail Free" card only valid in NJ in the year 2005.
Sorry for the slim pikins on the prizes gents, but you know how it is...government workers don't make much money.
Edit for typo. [ February 26, 2010, 06:43 PM: Message edited by: 4949shooter ]
