rolls, tumbles, somersaults, etc.?

Usually, they have to be going away, and flat out, to get more than a "one and a half", with a quarter twist: difficulty 1.9

Did I mention, downhill?

No, seriously, a coyote needs to be moving pretty good to get more than a complete flip.

Let's hear about your most spectactular shot! Even if you claim never able to do it again.

Good hunting. LB

450+ running head shot. Running directly away from his pal I had just popped right in the face [Big Grin]
Two dogs enter, one dog leave, almost.
Whats more amazing,it was with a M4 copy I sighted in for 1-1/2 inch high at 100 that morning.In the wind,with cheap a$$ ammo.LOL

Does a skid count as acrobatics? The first one skidded face down a few feet on the snow/ice,and the running away (directly) and it's rear end flipped over its head and it skidded also. Man I need a good Video camera. jerryboy
I'll admitt it, the second shot was luck.

Remington's new Hevi-Shot Nitro Magnum 10ga load, extra-full choke, in a coyote's face at about 6 yards: Almost a complete backflip.

Leonard, seen a coyote do a complete flip over a 3' rock after being hit by Richards new 260, what a mess. The best one ( no flip )was when I shot a coyote on a state hunt down in Old Mexico, a straight on chest shot with a 270. Never found the proof of kill, "it's tail". [Frown] All that was left was a red colord bone where the tail once was. Instead of 25 coyotes we came back with 24, we needed three more coyotes to beat Jim T, [Frown] so it didn't matter lol. This 2 1/4 gainer is the best roller I've caught on film. Seen a couple get 2 1/2 or 3 going downhill. Actually, saw one once only get maybe 2 flips, but covered 50 yards down the face of a cliff doing them, wish I'd have got that one on film [Smile] .

I had a real odd one, once. Tripped, and did a complete forward somersault, as he was coming in!

Didn't miss a lick, either. He was racing his buddy to the call. The other thing that stuck in my mind, on that stand, was that his buddy took a hit right up the bung hole; not a mark on him.

Crude, but how else you gonna say it? [Smile]

Good hunting. LB

PS I had a (two+) flip, once. It was also the furthest running shot I ever made; or attempted. I put the gun down, raised up and counted to maybe(?) three, before he started rolling, which was the only indication, as I didn't hear the hit. Strictly luck.

My main calling partner (Wolfhound) shot a trotting 'yote at about 80 yards with his .300 Win Mag (handloads from me, 150 grain bonded bullets at about 3100 fps) once. I was calling and this critter just topped a little hill right in front of us. Was like a bomb went off behind the dog with dirt and rocks flying into the air...with the coyote! That thing did a FULL two flips and landed in a heap! Darndest thing I have seen yet.

Jerry, please, a 450+ running headshot? Is that feet or inches? [Wink] Just messin bud.

Bunghole a Leonard? haha. Sounds very uncomfortable!

As for me, well, I shot very few coyotes and have yet to shoot one running. I guess I'm not too good at bringing doubles in! Regards,

Matt

Matt,
I'm gonna go to some clothing stores arround Columbus this weekend. Any good gunshops there in C? How bout coyote spots? Ever been to the Crosley fish n wildlife area? It's near N Vernon. Packed with Coyotes and they actually tell ya where they are at. They will set you up in a grid and keep other grids arround you free in case you want to wander. I will be hunting there at least 5 days the week of Christmas. My Dad lives in N. Vernon.

Give me a call and I'll loan ya a rifle and we can go bust some in the Old farmers fields, as a matter of fact, I think I'm gona go try this morning. Call me,jerryboy

Loan me a rifle? My rifle shoots too ya know!

There is one gun store that I've managed to find in Columbus and that is J&J's Custom Firearms. He does have a few AR's, but other than that it's mostly pistols. He is only open friday and saturdays right now though because his wife is sick.

I've never heard of Crosley, but if they tell ya where they are I'll to find out where it is asap!! They must stock birds or something and want the coyotes out? Anyways, I'll try and give you a call tonight after my uncle's funeral. Damn cancer. Later,

Matt
