One of the people that I've always admired is Benjamin Franklin who ended up on the $100 bill. He famously said "A penny saved is a penny earned." Now ....... with 'Biden-nomics' we can say "A Benjamin saved is a Benjamin earned."

Ahhhh, attempting to comprehend the incomprehensible. And I thought the likes of Einstien and Hawkings would have a hard time. All in good time will it be revealed! But, then again it could just be a lot of Bull attempting to prove nothing about the subject of nothing,,,, Back to my beer.

I gave Walt his honorary title based on his own words, I want to be very sure folks know this!
However.
Based on his latest post, I'm not sure what to do? Is action required, or no? And, if so, what?
Help me out!
edit: PS I am still chewing on the fact that he left what is almost positively my favorite state to live in a state I have never been to and know nothing about. But, there has to be a reason because whenever I am hunting in northern Nevada, I JUST FEEL FREE LIKE NOWHERE ELSE! [ August 30, 2024, 04:59 PM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

Northern Nevada is one of the few (possibly only) places where a zero campsite can be found. What's a 'zero' campsite, you ask ?? That's where you can look to the horizon 360* at night and see zero artificial light. Big starlit sky above and NOTHING below. It's a feeling that has to be experienced to be appreciated. Also brings out the urge to break out a Blues harmonica by a lonely campfire.

Along those lines, more or less....
Richard, I'm just starting to read this delicate little paperback about Jeremiah Johnson but with a different name. It's really good, so far, if I can finish it without further damaging it. It was printed in 197? and really looks it, too! But, I'm certain that I will enjoy it!
So, thank you!
Good hunting. El Bee
PS It's called, titled; "Mountain Man" [ September 16, 2024, 11:47 AM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

Ever read the book "Cougar Hunter" about a guy that ran hounds in Cali when they still had a bounty on those big cats? Pretty interesting read.

Haven't read Cougar Hunter but I'll keep an eye out for it.
El Bee; Once you finish Mountain Man take a deep breath and read Crow Killer. Same story but with better facts. Sometimes the facts weren't pretty.
Edit to add; I finished that My Sixty Years On The Plains. Good read !!! Much Thanx !!! [ September 17, 2024, 06:27 AM: Message edited by: Kokopelli ]

You got me a bit confused, ko ko! The thing is, you sent me "Mountain Man" and "Crow Killer", this is true.
BUT, I actually assumed you were returning Crow Killer; because I sent it to you! It wasn't necessary to return it and I remarked that the postage was TEN BUCKS! Are we getting confused as we age? You know, the Post Office has a special reduced rate if you declare the contents as a book.

So THAT'S where I got that Crow Killer book. Much Thanx !!!! It's a good read. I get behind on my reading and end up with a stack. I usually have a book in my lunch box at work, one in my den, one in the truck, and one in a place of quiet seclusion. It can get confusing sometimes.

Shit happens!
An example: 4 nights ago, we (my daughter, my son and myself)had dinner reservations at a Bistro called THE CLAIM JUMPER. Everybody ordered 16 ounce Prime Rib. That's a lot of meat, and two in the party requested a doggie bag. I had a Pacifico with dinner, and since I am on medication, I handed my keys/fob to my daughter to drive us home. When we got there, she couldn't find the keys to open the friggin door, But I punched the garage door remote attached to the visor. So, what did you do with my keys? She dumped the contents of her purse on the ground, no fob/keys. Son and daughter searched the car for the keys/fob. They decide to go back to the restaurant, which is isolated on a hilltop overlooking the I-10 freeway. They explored the parking lot, and my son examined the hillside with a flashlight. Finally, they talked to the restaurant people asking if by chance, someone had found it on the ground and , you know, turned it in, like a good citizen. Nope.
So, next morning she went to a locksmith and had keys made. Meanwhile, her husband, in San Rafael ordered a replacement fob to be delivered the following day, which would then need to be programed.
The next day, the fob arrived and she got a flight home. The next day, which was yesterday, I took my son to the airport for his flight to Nashville and I'm all by myself.
So, I noticed that my daughter had left her doggie Box in the frig, so I grabbed it, not really knowing if I would toss it or help myself to left over prime rib or give it to Tillie, who is always willing to help with this sort of thing.
The odd thing was that the cardboard box kind of jingled! I opened it and guess what? Inside was the keys and the fob!
So that explained how she was able to start the friggin' car without the fob. So now I have three sets of keys w/fob for my Infinity.
I texted both daughter at home, and son who was about to board his flight and shared the discovery and everybody was astonished. There is still a good size chunk of prime rib in the box; I may slice it for lunch.

When in doubt ............ It's usually the simple solution.

OK, when I talked to her a second time, she said that she had a hard time with the hook type latch on the top of the box and it had sprung open a couple times-she said; "kept popping open."
I'm guessing that she had the keys in her other hand while struggling with the cover that was popping open, and dropped the keys inside, in the dark while sliding into the seat.
But do "simple solutions" include searching the microwave, the toaster, the doggie bag and the mailbox? Fob and keys were sufficiently chilled in two days! Like a fine PinotNoir.
Anyway, where's my coffee? Good hunting. El Bee

Believe it or not, she is quite respectful of the counter and any tempting food that I might leave lying around....except the trash! If there is any bacon papers or cardboard left within easy reach; that's my fault! She must know that leaving that stuff on the kitchen floor is a dead giveaway! But she always looks apologetic when she is summoned to the scene. That's the worst offense I can think of, maybe the only one, besides stealing Pinky's peanuts.
