Here is the problem, in a nutshell. It's all about how an average person evaluates a simple word, without considering the CONCEPT!
See, SOCIALISM sounds both harmless and a neat concept. They do not equate "socialism" with "communism" and therein lies the problem.
Socialism sounds harmless enough and people see no harm in the concept based on a neutral, but positive sounding word.
This is the basic reason why so many governments move naively to a political ideology they know nothing about; because the fucking word sounds cool.
It's simply evaluating a concept based on the sound of a word. People like to be social, nobody wants to be a turd. Socialism sounds positive, harmless and beneficial. They do not relate the word to a political system which is very close to communism, in practice.
So, that's it. Let's vote for SOCIALISM! Hmmm? Well, I like to be social, I'm not a grumpy old foggy. So, let's go with Socialism because it sounds benign and positive!
YEA! I VOTE FOR SOCIALISM!
