I was out today and had a great hunt, we got four coyotes and missed five. I had the back of the pick-up loaded with the coyotes and i was on my way home when a women in a pick-up truck ran a stop sign and drove right in front of me, there was no time to hit the breaks or swerve, i had to just ride it out. The corner of my truck caught the corner of the lady drivers truck and material flew in all dirrections. While i was in the ambulance being checked over i could here a voice on the radio say the drivers of both vehicles where not hurt very bad but we have dead coyotes and truck parts all over the road. LOL I'm fine but the pickup dosent look so good, i will have to bum a ride for the rest of the week...

Glad to hear you are OK Tim. That had to have been a fun report for the cops to write up!

Thanks Tim B. and yes it was very interesting, one patrolman thought the coyotes ran into the road and caused the accident and another patrol man thought one of us was hauling them around in the back of the truck to release some where. Is'nt it funny how people can draw the wrong conclusion.. Take care Tim A. [ January 23, 2007, 10:39 PM: Message edited by: TA17Rem ]

man that's gotta suck! Are they wanting to buy you a used truck, or give you cash to put down on a new one?

First of all, if it is YOUR agent that is telling you this, rather than the other drivers' then you are going to pay at least the deductable amount. But, at least you have a firm decision. I hope you do, but some hotshot might decide differently, two weeks later. Sometimes they con you into using your comprehensive coverage because it's quicker, but I would insist on having the other drivers insurance pay for your truck, and if you have ANY choice at all, fixing your truck. It will be discouraging to take what they allow, less your deductable and try to replace your truck without putting more money with it.
Good luck, LB

Well shit TA, that stinks although I would`ve enjoyed seeing the coyotes laying all over the road.
Stick to your guns with those ins. guys, don`t let em BS you about the value, get in their face if you have to, I`ve even threatened a call to the ins. commission in the past in order to get an adjuster to be fair with his offer. Understand that the more he screws you the more he makes.

I talked with the insurance adjuster today. They offered me 9,000 something and also paid for unused lic tab's and some other stuff. When we finished the conversation we agreed on 11,000.00. My pick-up was a 2000 model F-150, clubcab with 250,000 miles on it. I had it appraised this fall, was thinking of tradeing in on a new and the dealer offered 10,000. So i think i did ok. Now the hard part is trying to find a good pick-up to take old silvers place.. A friend has a Nissan Titton that is appealing to me, Also one of those Cal. hunting rigs would be nice also, but i would have to move there to get any use out of it....

put in a new headlight and it would look like my truck. Must be some frame damage that we can't see.
Glad you are alive and kicking... things could have been worse...
Now having an accident is poor method of getting out of having to skin those froze coyotes.. ![[Cool]](cool.gif)

Sounds like you got a helluva price for a 7yr old truck wiht a quarter million miles.
I would doubt you could have sold it for that. Probably a good way to get a new one, since you didnt get hurt. If the dealer offered you 10k trade, it was probably worth 7-8k, real money.
Good job. Glad your not hurt.

Tim, That's quite a story. I agree with what Andy says. Now here's my question: Who's your insurance company, I might have to change over.

I did some checking around on prices for pick-ups and found some f-150 the same as mine that are fetching anywhere from 10,000 up to 15,000 all have high milage, so i would say the adjuster was pretty close to its value. The only thing wrong with my pick-up other than the front end damage was the high milage. I had no dents or scratches, or torn seats, on a scale of 1-10 i would give it a 8 for its condition...At the moument there is a high market for pick-ups here in the midwest, but its like that every winter...

Tim, I was just saying I thought you got a good deal. I'm looking for a new insurance co. because the one I have now just settled a large lawsuit over Katrina and I know my rates will go up, up, up when I renew so I'm looking for a change.
