Yes, looks familiar. I thought he had decided to quit making them? Do you have contact information you can send me, via email? Anything, phone number, email, whatever? I lost his address a while ago. LB

The flipper is mainly for solo hunting so you don't have to juggle two lights?

No, to illuminate (haha joke) you need to hunt with a partner. Night hunting kindergarten.
One hunts with the light and the other does nothing except safely handle the rifle, until it's time to shoot an animal.
The purpose is to have a dim red colored light for searching, one that won't spook the animal, and when that lens swivels sideways, you get a high intensity white light for ID, and shot placement. It is lighter than a rheostat and lighter than a two bulb spotlight, simple lightweight and silent. This is a setup for hunting from a vehicle where legal.
Anyone can make one. Coffee can, aircraft landing bulb, rig up a few lengths of rod and a cam, pivot sideways like a choke on a carburator. The lens disappears when you pull the trigger. This is old news, out here!
Good hunting. LB
edit: notice those two strips of foam inside the can that centers the red lens when it springs back?

Well, that's what it looks like? Been a while since I handled the ones that this fella makes? I have made similiar, but used an auto parts store spotlight and just added the cowling and the flipper lens and mechanism. Looks like he is making them from scratch? I know enough about this design to tell you that it's a good one and it works very well. But, it's not the only solution. I can think of at least three completely different styles of hunting light.
Good hunting. LB
