I posted this elsewhere, and however small, I kind of look at this almost like a victory to be shared.
Last account I had Wal-Mart was removing shooting sports equipment from their shelves. Observation follows:
I may be slightly behind the times, but in this day and age of lo-info voters and useful dupes who think that "democratic socialism" is somehow gonna work and is a much more noble cause than a plain vanilla socialist, or the flat-out commie that they usually are......
There is yet hope for this world.
A painful trip to a rural area Walmart that included the obligatory detour through the sporting goods area so that I can spend more "precious fews" on fishing tackle that I'll just misplace, or give away, was an eye opener.
I passed by the "clearance" section and out of the corner of my eye I spotted a 1000 pack of honest-to-goodness primers on the opposite side of the aisle.
Huh?
I know they usually stock a few for the in-line muzzleloading crowd, but a 1000 pack?????? Next I noticed that there was a selection of 100 count component bullets, good quality bullets.
Then I noticed a row of RCBS dies, the first one I looked at was for 45-70. Not too shabby Walmart, not bad at all.
For the "unwarshed", the 45/70 is a historically significant chambering introduced in 1873 abd has a strong following among the shooting and hunting crowd to this day, gangbangers, not so much.
Not too shabby Walmart, not bad at all.
Then I noticed RCBS presses, loading kits, balance scales, powder throwers, bullet pullers, and about anything else to equip a loading bench with good quality utilitarian loading tools.......
Below that was a shelf with several flavors of 1 lbs canisters of competitively priced smokeless powders.
I wish I would have looked things over more closely and bought a few things. This is something that the misguided leftists will eventually spot and cry about, but realistically the only people who'll ever buy much of the merch are the serious shooters that are absolutely no threat to society.
For all of the bad press Walmart gets, they should be supported for this - this Mom, apple pie, Chevrolet, and RCBS Americana kinda thing!!!!!

Well, okay as far as that goes. But in progressive parts of the country, like where I live, They have miss-named “sporting goods” and what they display is sleeping bags and camping shit. Tents, maybe, but nothing dangerous.
In fact, you know the glass counter, where they used to display various Case knives or more likely cheap imported Ozark brands and more like Boy Scout jack knifes.
But that is too dangerous. Some rattled customer could break the glass and steal a folding knife, hide it in his pocket and claim the thief escaped through the automotive department!
The solution to that fear is PHOTOS! In my Walmart, in that glass display case, they now have pictures of the various harmless folding knives. No real merchandise displayed. I guess if you select a photo and the stock number, they might have staff unlock a vault and run it up to the front counter so it’s waiting for you at checkout. They certainly wouldn’t give it to you while wandering around the store! Heavens!
They do the same thing with hard liquor. Bottles are locked behind glass with a lock. You have to get the attention of the right clerk with the keys and point to your selection, vodka or Jim Beam orr tequila. Then she will run it up to a particular check stand that handles these dangerous things and when you are ready with all your purchases, just go up there and tell them that the Jim Beam is yours so include it. Maybe they have security track you until you are in the parking lot?
So, in California, many Sporting Goods stores are just sportis clothes tennis shoes and golf clubs. They have no “weapons” at all and certainly no hand loading components, no bullets primers or powder. No, it’s lots of team jersey’s at ridiculous prices, $200 sneakers, and ball caps.
I can’t think of the names, but National chain stores that might sell AR15’s in Texas, won’t have even long guns in California.
This is why the few actual Gun Stores have a machine where you tear off a number and get in a line waiting to be helped by the front desk. Honest, I have seen people waiting in line for 30 minutes to over an hour that want to look at a Glock or a Marlin. Whatever, If you actually want to handle a GUN, you have to wait in line for the privilege. It’s crazy

Good catch Koko - I read it the same way AFTER I posted it....
I was looking at the clearance stuff on my right and the reloading equipment was a viable separate active inventory display on my left, across the aisle.
As much as the thought of another trip to Walmart pains me, I'm going back to buy some primers or something.

Leonard - all the crazy stuff you mention is why I posted - and exactly why I need to pass thru that store again.
For the record - it was in Keokuk, Ia., right across the river from the Peoples Republic of IL. That buys them a lot of traffic for ammo and components, tho there are some kind of hinckie restrictions on guns sales.
About 5 miles south is Missouri where law abiding citizens can walk in and buy a gun and carry it out the same day. Hard to compete with that w/o comparable sanity!

Okay, I was afraid to sleep last night.Find=ally went to bed at 5am. Up at almost 11. I’ve been trying to transition to Tylenol for painful breathing….but it brings the pain down to a tolerable LEVEL. If I’m careful and breathe more shalllow, it’’s a pain that I can tolerate; but why?
Here it is 4o’clock and I have been considering if I can manage to go to Costco in my pajamas? I need supplements. And without trying to do too much, but I think I need to look into hearing aids. I miss too much vital instruction, this way. Also, care givers, health people and hospital representatives have a strong incentive to talk to my daughter because she hears everything and doesn’t ask them to repeat.
But, I want to be dialed in to my care and more and more there is information exchanged at the door when arriving and when leaving, that the most critical and useful information is exchanged. I’ve called them on that a few times, but you know, I’m old and cranky.
So I need to hear better, simple as that. I don’t know if I can tolerate a trip, I’m thinking about it.
Same with this fucking new doctor that when I talked to him on the phone a couple days ago, he is focused on me signing some kind of pain management legal document. I’ll sign it, but I am sure it for covering his ass. I couldn’t be more careful with narcotics. I’ve been taking them for 15 years every fucking day, and I pass their screening, urine sample. I fucking take what I need. Today I have beeen trying Tylenol. It helps, but it’s still painful breathing, but I’m awake, not trying to sleep. If it’s so god damned important that Inot be overly medicated, I am willing. but, when a therapeutic regimen is in place that protects the physician, that’s bullshit.
Anyway I still might go, depending on if I really feel up to it.

I always supported Walmart. they took care of my wife and made sure she got a check every week when she was sick and if she could come in to work but not feeling up to par, they let her sit up front as a greeter.
Our wal-mart has muzzle loader stuff but no reloading stuff for rifles/pistols and only sell muzzle loaders or pellet guns.

We can do that here in Mn. as well. a Rem. XP-100 is classified as a pistol, all I had to do was simple form and show drivers lic. and my concealed to carry permitt.

I guess its different elsewhere but still the same as when my wife worked there. I still see door greeters and i look at them differently now and give them little more respect as some of them may not be around much longer either..

Today has been a bit rough. I thought I would feel better than I do. I’m very weak. Me and Corey are. working things out, getting on the same wavelengths. I guess if I get more rest, I will improve.
But, I can’t say that there has been any improvement. I slept all night, good thing but somehow lost the 02 tube. I’m taking the oxygen regardless. MY exercise is going to the bathroom.

I had a good sleep and got my morning meds, THEN I TOOK A SHOWER! Right now, I’m doing the Nebulizer.
Blood pressure was 110/70. So I need to drink water, which I hate.
Nurse from hospital called. Wants to be sure I don’t take something, and I didn’t and I won’t.
The good thing is that my new doctor renewed my pain meds after I signed some document. I was afraid he was a CRUSADER, since he has a very foreign nameDeeb Abdula, or something? But no, he okayed everything. My little secret is that it’s more than I need,
I need to see him in a week. It’s a pain, but I need to cooperate, I think I might get some kind of supplement, one of those drinks. I’m down to 181. I don’t have an appitite.

Stay active. You don't need to be training for the next Mr. Olympia and swimming alone is probably a bad idea but just walking and staying limber can be a big deal.

Leonard, you might consider smoking some pot, I mean you can stop at a dispensary or one of the kids could. It might go against what you believe BUT it is a food stimulate and has worked for a lot of people to make them hungry. And it just might give you a good nights sleep. Consider it anyways.

Thanks for the tips, Peanut Gallery! I smoked a joint with a girl, once. She said; I’m never giving you that again! Apparently, I melted to the floor….or something?
But, I’ve never done drugs of any kind. Once, we were on an extended trip to New Mexico and Texas. I had a class that I could not miss, and we were a long drive from home so my partner gave me a “bennie” and I was wired, yap, yap, yap all the way and made my class for credit. But I wouldn’t have made it, one stinking pill and I was wired for like 14 hours. That too, never gonna do that shit ever again!
And now, I have been taking a mild 30mg dose of Morphine sulfate twice a day for more than 15 years. It’s a timed release and it’s for my back; “spinal stenosis”. It’s a deformity in the Lumbar region, L4-5& 6.
Solution is surgery to create a larger opening for the spinal column. That one’s dead on arrival. Then there is epidurals, like once a month. I tried it and didn’t notice any relief. But this metered dose of morphine is enough that I I don’t have any pain at all. All I know is that it works, long term.
I was afraid this new doctor would be a Crusader, no narcotics and cover his ass. But he okayed it, no problem. Just had me sign some agreement; I promise to be careful with medication. So I got the morphine and the NORCO for what they call breakout pain. This works so well that I make it last 1 1/2 months, 50% longer. I take it twice a day rather than 3 times as prescribed. It’s like I don’t even have a bad back. Morphine is actually an amazing drug, taken with precautions. I have to submit to drug screening, urine sample every 6 months. Piece of cake!

I tried that for the wife but got some candy/taffy like stuff which came from Colorado I believe. Don't ask how I got it, but I did. Anyway I gave some to wife according to instructions and hour later I asked if it helped any and she said no. So I then went and striped small piece out of the wrapper and chewed it up. It took about 15 minutes and it kicked in for me and I got sicker than a dog and threw up 4 times. Never in my life have I heaved so bad. I took the remaining crap and tossed it in garbage. Whew that was some bad shit.

Here’s the thing. While I am fighting for every single breath, my lungs are in terrible shape. Corey is over there grilling steak and it’s not good, I need to stay away from that smell.
Therefore, I will not be smoking ANYTHING, for the foreseeable future! Sorry! I know the suggestion is offered in good faith but I’m not inhaling anything but OXYGEN for quite some time!
I have to fight for every breath, not kidding. They tell me I will get better, 3 months maybe 6 months? Six months of this is hard to envision. Damn, I sure hope breathing gets easier. Believe me, this is no picnic.

My late wife had a portable carry concentrator along with one at home and one across the street at our favorite bar,which the owner used when tending bar. My wife also tended bar there so it was handy.
Yep no breathing is quite the bummer and NO don't go getting that appetite stimulator!!! It could kill ya! Do get better as our prayers are with you.

Yes, Walt. I have a portable generator. The limiting factor is battery life. I used it today for the drive to Fontana, which is about 15 miles down I-10. Used about 52% for the trip. It’s plugged in and recharging now. If I was worried about running out, I could pack the oxygen tank with the little golf cat, as a reserve.
But on the bright side, my painful breathing is greatly diminished. And that is a blessing, folks! Now, I’m mostly tired, the constant coughing has also gotten a bit under control, or maybe not so much is a better term? Anyway, I’m coughing less. That a couple days ago.
I have had two nights, slept the entire night. BUT: the night before that was a legitimate PANIC! I woke everybody up by pounding on the wall with a rubber mallet. Yes, dire straights. It was bad. But it’s over, thank God!

If you don't have a regular big concentrator you can get them used That's what I got for the wife like I said we had two of them for her. One at the bar and one at home. I recall they ran me 500 apiece used?rebuilt. BUT they were worth the money then. I am sure they are considerably more today.Look into it if you haven't already. Those portable ones were nice but not long lived.Always had to bring 02 bottles with us when she went hunting with me.

LB, glad to hear you are slowly making progress.
Tuesday smoke was so bad here I had to dig out an inhaler and use it. Upper bronchial tubes were aching. Finally had to call uncle and stay inside with the AC. Since then it's still smoky but hasn't bother me. Coughing is the worst both of us had it bad on Tuesday night had to have been from the smoke. Too many years living on lookouts and breathing it 24/7.

WOW! That’s amazing. But, breathing is so basic to life that you don’t give it any thought.
I have had a “fairly” good couple of days. Meaning no painful breathing. Shortness of breath, yes, but very little associated PAIN.
I had a video conference scheduled this morning with a specialist. For whatever reason, the appointment crashed and burned. This guy is a blood specialist, and of course, he has an Asian sounding name. I think his purpose is to explain the whole situation I am in. I, apparently, have these blood clots on both lungs and they have been feeding me various blood thinners for since the fourth of July week end.
“They say” that I might eventually get off the oxygen but NOT the blood thinners. What does that mean? I don’t actually know, other than don’t bump anything and cause bleeding that my body is unable to clot and stop. It’s potentially. a big deal.
