Got an email from a friend about the Island. A forward from 'the Meateater' website. It seems that the scum who run The Nature Conservancy, after killing off all of the goats and hogs, are now going to eradicate the deer with 'sharpshooters'. They have sabotaged any of the public hunting programs to justify this atrocity. Makes me wanna puke !!!!!

I’m not very current on our offshore islands. San Clemente is strictly Navy but I’ve been on fishing charters that are offshore and you can get a feel of the place. Information about Catalina wildlife is kinda hard to obtain. I’ve been there, mostly the Istmus and Cat harbor but have not wandered inland very much and not lately, A few buddies used to go on the canned hunts years ago but it seems like everything they try to do does not end well. Thats all I know? My folks used to go to Anacapa, I went with them one time, it’s some kind of preserve?

they should have put wolves on that Island then they would have the taste for just goats and pigs so they could have adapted well on inland.

They SHOULD have left the long running successful hunting program in place that was controlling the goat & pig populations while making a profit and providing thousands of recreational hours for hunters. We don't need the anti-hunting Nature Conservancy. And we don't need the anti-hunter's wolves.

Yeah, well it’s like idiot congresspersons writing conditions in their laws that specify exact length of the “clips” and how much they weigh and limit velocity to under 50,000 seconds, and out law cop killer boolets because the rickashas can kill lethally at nearly 20 miles. They need to be put for law enforcements only, or if licensed with backgrounds.

So after the killed the goats and pigs did they remove them or just leave them lay?? If they did then least wolves would of benefited if they just moved some in to do the job.

Too bad about that Island. I remember as a kid going over there with my mom and dad so he could participate in the Catalina Grand Prix. It was a motorcycle race over or around or both, the island. Just remember the beach really. Then not too many years ago the wife and I did a boat trip out there for a weekend. Ehh, just another tourist spot. They should maybe introduce grizzlies there to keep the human population down. They don't have any California Grizzly's left, If I remember right, very suspect, it was sometime in the early 30's the last Cal.Griz was shot. SOO introduce some from Alaska!!!!

I was thinking introduce Grizzlies into Griffith Park & the Verdugo Mountains to control the homeless population. Maybe include a few of Tim's wolves, too.

As far as I know, and that ain’t much, whether using so called “sharpshooters” or helicopter, I believe they left them to rot? I think they tried nets once, on San Clemente, for goats. Any way you look at it, it has always been bleeding hearts or the conservation weenies that worried about the native shrubs and grasses. Did they try to introduce javelina on one island, some time ago? I don’t know, but that suddenly popped into my head.
