Hey El Bee;
Have you heard anything about a mileage tax for vehicles in your late great state of Calif. ???
Rumor going around that it passed. [Confused]

Well, I think the mileage thing is rather complicated, and designed for one party to get free roads and the other party that drives distances is forced to pay for the amenities while the ones that don’t do much driving is exempted from paying for it even thought he uses the stuff when he wants to. While the other guy pays..

IT’s kinda like a single person not paying for schools that people married with children will pay. Or you can make the same argument for all services like Fire Stations or hospitals. It’s a weasel plan where it puts the public burden on one segment instead of everybody sparing in goods and services.

Got to be very careful. Giving certain elements exceptions even though the services are there when and if they should ever need those services….and if I’m not explaining it well; that’s what the weasels want, confusion and puzzlement. It’s a commie proposition.

Good hunting. El Bee

What I'm getting is that they shoved electric cars down people's throats and then realized that electric cars don't burn gas ..... ergo less gas tax. [Eek!] Can't have that. A Democrat without a tax. Unheard of !!! [Eek!]
Enter the mileage tax. (But gas taxes ain't gonna go away, either)

Hello, Walt! I appreciate the concern. But, it’s my own damned fault! AS I may have mentioned previously, my kids and grandkids are all scattered, Illinois, Iowa, Colorado and northern Kalifornia.I probably missed my opportunity 20 years ago when my wife died.

I get a huge break on property taxes here, and that’s it! Proposition 13. New people buying a house here in this neighborhood are looking at $8,000 per year in property tax alone, while I pay about $1,800. Grandfathered.

Wherever I go, it will be higher, maybe more than I can afford? Yes, not as much as Kalifornia, but more than I’m currently paying. And, I always am cognizant of the fact that I am just outside the boundary of Los Angeles County. San Bernardino County is much cheaper property taxes. Right next to me in Claremont, 1/2 mile from here is the county line, & taxes are quite a bit higher.

So, maybe I’m stuck? Even ko ko doesn’t drop in anymore!

Good hunting. El Bee

The visits were on my way to a tournament in May. (usually very good weather) When the organizer of the shoot stepped down & turned it over to being run by the club the first thing that they did was move the date to early March. (Weather maybe good, maybe no.)
Just don't want to plan a trip, make arrangements, drive 10 hours each way and get rained out.
A shame, too ...... that was a great event. [Cool]

I guess your story about unintended consequences is similar to what happened to the California State Varmint Callers Association. Somehow, a complete asshole was elected the president of the organization and within a year, it was disbanded, the treasury was distributed among the chapters and it was gone. I still have what’s left of the club records in two file boxes stacked in the corner of my garage. Why me? Because I had just re written the charter and by laws and I guess nobody else wanted them? Our annual awards night used to be a pretty big deal at the Chalon Mart in downtown Los Angeles. I got my first belt buckle there in about 1970, maybe 1069? It came with cash money but 8th place only paid 7 dollars. It was a mistake never to be repeated. From that point on, we competed for trophy’s only, like the belt buckles and engraved knives, mementoes. I still have all of it, (my personal trophy’s) upstairs in my den/combo trophy room. Come to think of it, I should probably try to do something with all that junk. Kinda sad, some of that stuff cost real money, back in the day. WE used to send the bowls up to San Francisco to be engraved because that was the only place that could write on the curved surfaces. Impressive stuff, if I do say so myself. You’d think I won Whimbleton, or something?

Another stroll down Memory Lane.
Good hunting. El Bee
