What a strange warm fall so far. More snow and cold in October than November so far. Busy fall as usual with hunting.
Grouse numbers really low this season. I think we have taken 7-8.
At least I got the new Stoeger .28 sxs bloodied. The shotgun needs a lot of shooting time. Triggers are stiff. So far I like it. Just getting use to the double triggers it hard.
Deer hunting was terrible and very slow. Hoping to change up our direction for next season. Was over run with greedy obnoxious out of state hunters this season.
Other half got his cow elk last Sunday. I'm going to pass on trying to take one. We really don't have the freezer space and with no weather to push these cow around they are out of reach for me. Also I go in for shoulder surgery on Dec 8 and I really don't want to be wore out. Left shoulder has been bothering me for 3 years now.
Fur market has more or less tanked. Bobcats are on a downward spiral. Coyotes no money really for what you have to put in to trap them. No one wants a shot up on the carcuss coyotes.
Other half started trapping marten as war as it is they aren't running and he had a mishap that just about put him over the edge of the road. Took a couple of hours of winching and the help from the local who lived in the area to help pull the truck out with his small dozer. No damage just ripped off 3 of 4 steps on the running boards didn't like them anyway.
No plans for the winter other healing and getting on with life. Hoping it starts snowing right now there isn't enough to have and spring run off. Very sad. But we have been getting some fall rains and has kept everything greened up and easy living for the deer , elk birds everything actually. Which is a good thing.
Everyone have a good Thanksgiving day. Will do little to nothing here.

I just got another Cortisone shot in my left shoulder, this time right into the joint, as a last resort before shoulder replacement.

I've had two shots in the shoulder. First one lasted about9-10 months. Second didn't last very long about 3-4 months.
Good luck with it. I put my right shoulder off for 22 years. I had a total reversed replacement. I have to watch what I lift and can only shoot something like a 243 or my 6.5 with the muzzle brake. It can dislocate so keep the weight work up on it.

What is a total reversed replacement ????
My first Cortisone shot aimed at Bursitis & Tendonitis did nothing. This last one targeting the Arthritis 'seems' to be helping. I've had to drop down in bow weight due to lost strength from not shooting for too long. Should be able to build back up without overdoing it.

My daughter Shelley has been complaining about “a pinched nerve” somewhere and finally got an MRI and she has moderate to severe stenosis of 5 cervical vertebrae and now that she knows it’s kind of a panic, worried about surgery, etc. And this is without a follow up consultation, but she’s thinking screws and bolts, etc.
For me, I’ve pretty much given up thinking about foot surgery, I’m just going to live with it. And, it’s all Tillie’s fault! She tripped me. Other than that, my health is moderately OK. I have good days and an occasional bad day. Now get this, a bad day starts early while brushing my tooth. I start sneezing! No kidding. Then, it’s going to be a bad day. One day a month plus another day and a half recovery. I’m coping by using Instacart. No bullshit. Yes, the prices are higher for Stater Bros. and I used it once for Walgreen’s.
I got hooked up with my son in laws streaming service, Paramount and I have a doorbell camera. I truly do not see what is all the raving is about? The announced reason is to make sure they can see me alive, and walking around., they are worried about my health. whatever.
I keep forgetting! I want to get a housekeeper out here, she needs 2 days notice. You know, before the guests arrive next week. They have the whole upstairs to themselves and they are bringing the turkey and all the rest. It works out OK, they strip the sheets and launder and get the upstairs all ready for next time so I don’t have to do it. All in all, a good arrangement.
I have a nurse coming this morning, It’s a waste of time, as far as I am concerned. one a week, I’m putting up with it. I know, sounds serious, but it is unnecessary, for sure. But, I’m not paying for it, so if it makes others feel good, the least I can do is put up with it.
I get these robo calls. Yesterday it was supposedly about my Spectrum account, they wanted my credit card information, (you know?) to issue me a refund. I said; I don’t pay with my credit card! But, it doesn’t matter they can issue a $185 credit on my card. So, I gave them a card number for CASH AP, which is what I use to send money to my son. It’s a hokey deal but that’s what he uses. So, just screwing with the guy, I gave him that number and experation date and even the CV #. That kinda fucked him up. I do not know how they do it, I guess they charge an Iphone on my card, something like that? So anyway, the same guy calls back today and says he is in Pakistan and needs to come to California, so can I LEND him $185? I told him to go ahead and use the card I gave him yesterday. They must make a profit, but not from me!
My daughter say's (exasperatedly) WHY DO YOU ANSWER THE DAMNED PHONE? Then she says that if she doesn’t recognize the number, she ignores it. Fine! I even have caller I.D. I’m sorry for doing things differently, it’s a fault. Anyway, think of all the money these assholes make by cheating the elderly! It must run into the Billions?

A robo-call will be dead silent. If It's me, after a couple of seconds I'll say "Hey El Bee ????"
Leave the line open, SAYING NOTHING !!!
You will tie up their machine for aprox. one minute before they disconnect, wasting their time and costing them lost 'sales'. After about ten seconds of silence you can just set the phone down and pick it up a couple of minutes later.
If you talk to them your number will be entered as 'active, possible sucker'. Tie their line up and they will drop your number and more importantly, not share it with other telemarketers.
Right now I usually only get about 5 robocalls a week. I used to get about that many an day when I answered and fuked with them.
All time favorite; My OWN NAME & NUMBER showed up on Caller I.D. one time.

Koko, a total reversed shoulder is they take the ball from the humerus and put it on the scapula and the cup on the humerus.
Going on 3 years with it and no problems so far. Have packed some elk meat with it and didn't bother it.

Not sure what is going on with the left shoulder other than the bicep is angry and I really have to watch what I do with it.

That’s the same operation I did on my Redbone when she got thrown out of the back of a truck/kids fucking around. It cost me $600 back in the 70’s. Only problem was, she couldn’t swim. 8 -10 years later, she drowned in the pool. I loved that dog, cried when she died. She had a beautiful funeral in the mountains. Son and grandson worked the shovels, buried her in her wicker bed. A good dog. Getting weepy thinking about her. They ask for nothing and give so much.

Been baby sitting a 12 year old all summer. Dug his resting place the other day. Just in case he goes this winter and I can't run the backhoe.
And no! the other half won't even try to operate my tractor. He will drive it to move it when I'm on the hoe.
