Do any of you remember the big billboard on the hiway into Winnamucca that said in big bold letters"Winnamucca,English spoken here!" ???
Probably not socially acceptable now. Or the signs on the interstate from Commfornia into Oregon AND into Washington that read "Californians go back home." ????

That’s interesting, Walt! I really do not remember the sign you speak of, having traveled that road to Denio many times. Or do you mean on the Interstate? I just remember one time that we almost convinced a couple whores to come coyote hunting with us that evening; after my partner pumped up both of them, and in short order!
Or, how about that road race on was it 8A? A hundred mile road race down to Tonopah. Loved it!
Good hunting. El Bee
edit: and another thing. The Mc Donald’s in Winnemucca, which did not exist in the good old days,,,,or was that at Lovelock? Anyway, they has some pretty good framed photos of the local Paiutes and Shoshones, some on horseback. Not a cracked smile on any of them!

It was on the interstate a mile or two before you hit the winnamucca turn off.

From which direction? Anyway, I truly do not ever remember seeing that sign?
Also that race, maybe it starts at Battle Mountain? I need to look at a map! Back in the day, I could drive that state east to west and north to south without referencing any map, except
Good hunting. El Bee
edit: Now I just went out and retreived my box of maps. Remember those county maps by Harry Freese?Yellow folder and the map opened up inside with hand drawings of every trail and jeep trail? Most handy maps I ever bought and you could get them at any gas station or grocery store. I never seen them for any other state, just Nevada. On the cover it says PRICE $1.25. I suppose sat. maps are the current rage, but back in the day, I found these maps to be extremely useful! LB
