I GOT A LETTER from Capital One. They are threatening to cancel my card unless I use it before November something?

Well, first of all, I didn't need their stupid card but they offered 10% off of my purchase, which was a gun so what the hell?

The problem is that I have only used this card for points at Bass ProShops. So, unless I go there, make a special trip, it's true, I don't use it very much.

I have the same situation with my Nordstrom's card, which I only use when I go to their store, which I seldom do. And I was very recently told that their store at the Mall closed almost 4 years ago! But, I go to The Rack sometimes and I guess I need to go shop there. That's the problem between Amazon and Walmart, sucks all the oxygen to where brick and mortar stores haven't got a chance. My father worked for Sears more than 30 years. Boy did they go down in flames! Almost an Institution, but I guess some thing's never last forever.

Speaking of which, I didn't get a notice from Midway about special prices for my upcoming birthday? Did they stop with the birthday pricing, or what?

Good hunting. El Bee

PS on the Bass ProShops, I really don't have an excuse because the store is only about 10 miles away. In Arizona, I have heard some of you local guys talk about going to Bass ProShops and as far as I know, there is the only one, and I think it's in Glendale which is a long ride for ko ko? If there is more than one store in Az, let me know. OK?

There is a Bass Pro and a Cabela's both in Phoenix.
I really wish they would move one of them to Tucson.

I have the Capital One Cabela's card. I use it for everything and have just over a thousand $$ in points built up. Every once in a while I order something from the catalog but really, there's not too much I need.

Now that I have friends living in Sun City West I have an excuse to visit them and drop by the Bass Pro store.

FWIW; The Sportsman's Warehouse in Tucson has tried to get me on their card THREE TIMES AND FUKED IT UP EVERY TIME. I tell them I want the card that's good anywhere and they send me one that's only good at Sportsman's Warehouse, leading to me calling them and canceling their card.

I just looked at this card. First, it's a MasterCard, not a VISA. For some reason I thought it was only good at BassProshops? That's true, I just called.

Another thing. The card says it's good through 01/28! and she told me I have an $8,000 limit.

But, I have to make a purchase, she said it will close due to inactivity.

So, unless I buy another gun, they will close the account even though I never made a late payment and the account balance is zero.

Something about this sucks!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: I think me and Tillie are going to BassProshops tomorrow and maybe buy some boolets.

Sorry, I just didn't make it today.

All friggin' day paying bills! It's really complicated, but it's my stupid bank! They just don't like Chrome so I have to delete my history in Sierra and do things their way. It can't be just me? At least I was able to get logged on without assistance like the last 2 months!

And, I have a dr appt tomorrow and I'm damned near out of orange juice, so I have to squeeze in Costco, too! I'm so damned busy these days, it's pitiful!
Which reminds me, the dammed hummer feeders are empty again! See what I mean?

I have this friggin' cactus that grows like a vine and it's about ten feet tall and ready to fall over and kill somebody! It has serious spikes about an inch and a half long and they are unbreakable! It's dangerous and I need to deal with it soon.

I can't post pictures, but I can send a photo to ko ko via email and he can post it! Otherwise you wouldn't believe me! No shit!

Good hunting. El Bee

It's a cactus with strong and sharp 1 1/2" spikes and it grows kinda like a vine.

It's climbed up those yuccas that are supporting it, but who knows, for how long?

You do NOT want that fucker to fall on ya, or you to fall in it.

Damn, it's really wicked! It's a weapon, don't worry about teasing a spine out of your finger once locating it. A totally different kind of cactus, I don't even know if it's native?

You reach in and saw it or lop it and you must be quick and get the fuck out of the way!

Good hunting. El Bee

edit: Wow! pay bills with hand written checks? That's cute!

Also, when I just reordered checks last time it was $45 for the smallest amount, something like 200, maybe? Enough for several years, at least.

EDIT: ko ko you are in for a shock when they get around to informing you that their system does not support your silly flip phone any more! And, wait until you find out how much a new iphone 15 costs!

My checks are free and when I go in the bank they greet me by name. Small town stuff. [Smile]

I had a Cricket Smart Phone. Most user-unfriendly p.o.s. I could imagine with endless incoming spam calls. Canceled it out after a couple of months of nothing but frustration.

I will concede that smart phones have a few neat features. The route planning is handy but apparently there is more than one of them and one of them thinks that 20th goes thru. I've been told of people getting directions to my house "Turn right" where there's no road.
The other feature that I thought might be useful is plant identification. The wife can take a picture of a plant, push a couple of buttons and get all knowed up on it. Useful for plants & mushrooms.

You 'should' be getting a package today.

My daughter has "Picture This" I got the 7 day free trial but some of my stuff is so exotic that the program misidentifies some stuff. It's really cool, don't get me wrong but it throws bullshit, when you know a few things and it tries to blow smoke up my ass.

I didn't know some banks still provide free checks. Bank of America stopped the free checks probably 40 years ago?

You are absolutely right about following the maps! I've been on practically trackless desert and following directions that dead end into a chainlink barrier instead of an On Ramp and the closest was a couple miles away.

I also spent almost 2 hours looking for a Walmart in Benson that was an open field and needed a local to show me where the real Walmart actually was, or is. It's a problem with updates and in that case a proposed site that wasn't acted upon. So, yes you can get bum stears.

Shit! especially on that reservation and what we call "go arounds"! You hit a Y and hmmm? which way? You pretty much have to already know which one to take until the friggin' mud dries up. And, here's the thing, they don't want you to know. They have zero street signs. if you don't have satellite coverage or some USGA maps i purchased from the Los Angeles County courthouse they have bailed me out a few times. Border Patrol knows the roads they need and that's it. There are roads to no where and nobody goes there anyway, so who needs road signs.
They have 2 strobe towers in the middle of nowhere and they have water for lost Mexicans. But if they take a wrong turn, man keep walking and hope your gallon jug lasts until you get to somewhere, like I-8. Pulling off the freeway between Yuma and Casa Grande and they come out of the bushes looking for a ride. Travel in the winter and you might freeze to death. This all goes to show why all the border crossing these days happens down in Long View and that Border Patrol is just a welcoming committee showing them where to get all their free stuff.

You can easily cross into San Diego and San Louise, and after that, forget it at least until Sasabee and then the whole border of Texas is inaccessible between El Paso and way down by Brownville. That's all I know? Who the hell cares?

Good hunting. El Bee

Yes, I got package which I thought I had already acknowledged? If I didn't, thank you it was very thoughtful. I'm in the middle of the Apache Wars right now, I'll get on it soon!

Cool !!! .......... You're welcome !!

Holy-weird actually didn't treat us toooo badly in the movie. Far better than that Revenant butchering of the Hugh Glass story.

For clarity; I sent El Bee a copy of the novel that the movie Jerimiah Johnson was based on and the book 'Crow Killer' which covered the actual facts.
Both pretty good reads.

KoKo,
I totally agree with you about the movie the Revenant. Why take a good story and fuck it up?

What's with this filming so damn dark you can't see it? Some artsy fartsy shit.

Yes, they butchered a story that was epic to begin with.

There are some things that should be required reading for high school students. The (true) story of Hugh Glass is one. The history of Bass Reeves is another. Jeramiah Johnson and Bill Williams and a number of other 'mountain men' ....... all worthy of study.

Which book ?? The 'My Sixty Years On The Plains' by Hamilton seems to be pretty straight forward.

Others, sometimes you need to take with a grain of salt, find first person accounts and cross reference the information.
